1. O Allah, O Lord of Destiny, O Creator
O Helper of the oppressed, O Most Merciful

2. O Living One, O Worshipped One, have mercy on me
For the sake of the chosen Prophet, the Adnanite

3. O Knower of hidden secrets, save me
For the righteous saints and my master, make me safe

4. For I am a stranger in this land, I have no guardian
No servant has ever been disappointed having petitioned You

5. Passion has overflowed like a valley
From the abundant fires burning within me

6. I have composed poetry with subtle meanings
Yet with the critics they are worthless

7. Sweeter than pure clear honey
More beneficial than medicine for the sick

8. From the special nectar bees harvest
You find pleasure in their words while I suffer

9. The wise have said virgin meanings
It suffices you from evil to ignore me

10. When your Lord wants ruin for an ant
He creates two wings for it for that purpose

11. When your Lord wants ruin for a village
He enables the ignorant and the perverse to rule it

12. When your Lord sees people rebel and transgress
He empowers a tyrannical oppressor over them

13. When Your Lord's servant transgresses his bounds
He does not refrain from casting him into loss

14. When a people are heedless of their rights
In the Torah and Qur'an's gathering places

15. God relates in His words: O My servant
Beware of prolonging your disobedience of Me

16. Beware of denying My blessings and rejecting Me
Beware of persisting in your disobedience of Me

17. God is Noble, God is ardent - beware Him
Your Lord is One, loftier than all

18. He unleashed upon Nimrod, when they disobeyed,
The weakest of creatures, a gnat

19. The people of Lot, when they disobeyed His command
Lot the pure Prophet, free of disobedience

20. Your Lord saved him alone from His wrath
As they wandered confused, oppressing and attacking

21. In their time, their world became corrupted
With the Copts, the Qarmatians, and the Kharijites

22. When the people of Salih rebelled and transgressed
Your Lord made their cities upside down

23. Pharoah, Haman and their followers
Were drowned in the sea with the great flood

24. He unleashed the Bukht Nasr, the Persian army
Upon Israel in the Holy Land

25. Without destroying Jerusalem or its church
Making their blood flow freely through betrayal

26. There are many more whom God has judged
Peoples who strayed from the path of the Sultan

27. If you are a refined man
Look to this world through the eyes of one who will perish

28. Where are the kings who built it before?
Who constructed the palace of Bosra upon columns?

29. Where are the generous, just Caesars
And their days and those who built the Iwan?

30. Where are the Tubba kings in their time?
And Maqri Al-Wahsh and Al-Harith Al-Ghassani?

31. Who built Basra and the Fortress of Salkhad
Etching the Crosses above the stones?

32. Look to Baalbek, who built its fortress?
In the past they said it was King Solomon

33. They left, abandoning what they built to an heir
Without doubt, all who live will perish

34. Where is the Chosen Prophet and his Companions?
And Al-Haydar Al-Karrar the great knight?

35. Where is Muhalhil? Where are Antara and his love?
Where is Al-Hasan? Where is Al-Husayn and his supporters?

36. Where is the warrior Al-Miqdad and Mayasa?
Who summoned the Persians from their invasion against him?

37. Where are the Arabs, the people of prestige? They left it
Where are Hayyaf and Al-Nu'man?

38. Where is Az-Zanati and his power in his lands?
Tunisia the Green retained its sultanate

39. Do not forget the Mamluks and the Furmunda
And Shabib Al-Zarqa who compiled the records

40. And Abu Zayd, leader of the hordes of the Maghreb
And Zaydan, Jahal and As-Sibyani

41. And Thu'ayb and Al-Qadi in Dayr Al-Fayd
Their sultan was the son of King Sarkhan

42. Where are the brilliants on the coasts? They were
Rulers in the land of the Arab Boustani

43. The Ghuzz in Egypt ruled mightily
Without Muhammad Ali alone

44. In our times, many worlds have vanished
Where are those who were once great figures?

45. As long as Mir Bashir the Maltese kept
The Jouan tribe vanquished in the west

46. Saeed Bek Al-Jumblatti ruled
In his time over the cities and plains

47. And Aqil and Al-Harfoush were renowned
As was Ismail Khayri Bek the second ruler

48. Where are the Shihabis and Ibn Al-Hadi?
And Jarrar with Tuqan and Al-Hamdani?

49. Many besides us have departed, Zainab
None remains except the One, the Unique
