- إذا نشرت كانت على دارة البدرIf I shine I shine on the full moon's mansion
- أرى أهل الثراء إذا توفوا
- أساء إلى جفني فؤادي بنارهMy heart has harmed my eyelids with its fire
- أكابد ليلا لا يزال كأنهI Long for a Night that Remains as Though
- ألا عودة من طيفه فيرى حاليIf only he would return from his apparition and see my state
- إن الذي ولى ففر بنفسهHe Who Turned and Fled
- إن وهب بن مسرهInna Wahb bin Masrah
- أنا في الصيف راحة للنفوس
- أنظر إلى الشيهم كيف انزوىLook how the shy one has withdrawn
- بمحلة خضراء أفرغ حليها
- تترى رؤوسهم عليك كأنهاTheir heads tower over you as though they are
- ترى قطرات الطل كالدر فوقهاDewdrops Like Pearls upon It
- ترى لابسي نسج الحديد كأنهم
- تعاورتهم نبال عن معابلهاArrows from their quivers were loosed around them,
- تعلقن بالأشفار من كل فعبرةAttached to every speck of dust out of each tear
- تكاتف حتى الطير حولهBirds Gathering Around Him
- خليلي ما انفك الأسى منذبينهمMy Love, Sadness Has Not Parted From Me Since They Left
- رب صغير الخلق ذي دهاءMany a small creature with cunning
- روحني عاذلي فقلت له
- سقيا لطيب زماننا وسرورهWatering the goodness of our time and its joy
- سيقوا إليك فلو سقت قلوبهمThey Will Be Led to You, So If You Quench Their Hearts
- شاهدتهم وأنا أخاف عناقهمI saw them while fearing their embrace
- شكا في ظهره حدبهBack Pain

- قلق الفرند مشطب فكانماThe restless sea is choppy, as though
- كأن الدروع البيض والبيض فوقهاAs Though White Shields and White Eggs Above Them
- كأن حناياها جناها مصفقLike its sorrows are applauding its garden
- كأن عيونهن عيون عينTheir eyes are like the eyes of a deer
- كأن ليلى مما طال جانبهAs You Wish My Night with Laila Grew Long
- كأن ليلى وفي إعادة أنجمه
- كأن نؤادي في يدي خفقانه
- كأنا من الإجلال تحت عماية
- كأنما الخيل أوله ضوارمهاAs if the horses were the first part of their swords
- كأنه طبق الدنيا إذا انبسطتAs if it were a platter of the world when his horsemen deployed
- كأني من فرط الصبابة عاشقAs if from extreme youth I'm a lover
- كلفتها طول السهاد فراقبتI looked

- لحق السها في جذعه فكأنه
- لعبت بأيام الزمان وطاولتI played with the days of time and fate
- للصبا منة على الروض هادته

- لما رأت شعري تنير لونه

- له لسانان من قرن إلى قدمHe has two tongues from horn to hoof
- مالت على يده كأس فملت لهاShe Leaned on His Hand Holding a Cup, So I Was Jealous of It

- مطوقة يغدو الندى في جناحهاRoaming with morning dew in her wings
- من أين أقبلت يا من لا شبيه لهFrom Where Did You Come, O Peerless One
- من بنات الكروم ليس لها خمس
- من كل ضافية الغدير ترى لهاFrom Every Branch Leading to the Pond You See It Has
- هبت لنا ريح الصبا فتعانقتThe breeze of morning has come to us, so it embraced
- وأرى بقية منرتي قد فرقتI scattered what was left of my nest
- وأغضف يلغي أنفه فكانماAs if his delicate nose were leading,
- والأرض عاطرة النواحي غضةThe land, its corners fragrant, is verdant
- والثريا دنت من البدر حتىAnd the Pleiades declined from the moon until
- وأنت ابتدعت لناعورتينYou created two fountains for us
- وانظر إلى ملك النصارى كلها
- وبيني وبين المستقلة بالنوىBetween Me and the One with Resolute Intention
- وتشفق الدرع أن تنساب خائفة
- وتلك الأساطيل المسخرة التيThose harnessed armadas passing by
- وثقيلة الأوصال تحسب أنهاHeavy of Limbs She Thinks Herself
- وجاثمة بين أيدي الملوك
- وجه أغر كأنه بدر الدجىA Face As Bright As The Full Moon
- وحانية من غير رحمى على طفلA tavern without mercy upon a child
- وحنانة في الجو كدراء أقلبتSerenity Turned to Sadness in the Air
- ودنت في هبوبها مشية النشوانIn blossoming, her walk was like a swaying bough
- وذو خضرة مقسومة شق بينهاWith a split greenness, between which
- وراقصة أسبلت لمةA Dancer Who Spread Her Shawl
- ورب سوسنة قبلتها كلفاA Rose I Once Kissed
- وسابغات كأنما نسجتAnd cloaks as though they were woven
- وسخية تعطيك أقصى جهدها
- وضعنا على جمر الفراق خدودنا
- وقائمة تسبي العقول بحسنها
- وقائمة فى يدي قائمA palm with a palm
- وقصيرِ الظهر مرفوعِ الخطاBack That Thang Up
- وقفت على الغصن الجديد كأنماI stood on the new branch as if
- وقفت على عباء والجزع بينناI stood on a cloak, and grief between us
- وكأن البنود أجنته الطيرAnd As If His Fingers Were Birds
- وكأن الرايات وهي مع الريحAnd As If the Flags While with the Wind
- وكأن المقاتل اغتاظ حتىAnd As If The Warrior Was Angered Until
- وكأن درعك أنشئت من مزنةAnd as if your shield was made from kindness
- ولي الشيب بعد عزل الشباب
- وليس انبساطي في علاك مثقلاMy Friend
- وليل بغى فيه الغراب جناحهThe Night the Crow Folded His Wings
- وماء كمثلِ الراح جارِ يزيدنيWater Like a Flowing Breeze Increases Me
- وماجنٍ معشوق إذا اجتمعتThe melody of a beautiful beloved, when heard
- وماذا عليهم لو أجابوا فسلمواAnd What Would They Do If They Responded and Submitted
- ومحجل حر كأن أديمهMy Friend's Skin is Like Leather
- ومحدوبة في كل وقت ظهورهاCurved at All Times of Her Appearance
- ومد ضبعيه في أعلى مزاحمة
- ومدركات ولم تلب وليس لها
- ومرنة بعد الرواح كأنماAfter Departing as Though
- ومرنة والدجن ينسج فوقها
- ومرهفات كأنها شهب
- ومصروفة عن خلقها إن صرفتها
- ومضمومة في الخيزران كأنهاMy friend
- ومطرد الأعلام خال سرابهEndless are the signs, yet empty are their mirages
- ومما يقطع الحيزوم عنديWhat makes my throat constrict
- ومهتبل بالجو والأرض مسرعCrazy about the sky and earth, hastening
- ومؤلف الأوصال يختلف الصدى
- وناحلة صفراء من غير علةA Yellow Bee Without Flaw
- ونأخذ منه جوده تحت هيبةWe Take His Generosity Under Awe
- ويسل فيه من العنب الغضIn it is poured from the fresh grapes
- ويعيرك القلم المعلى واعيا
- ويل كفكر في إقامة دولةWoe to you who think of establishing a state
- ويوما بدارات العقيق لو أنهOne day at dawn in al-'Aqeeq's abode
- يا فرجة للحادث المتكشف
- يخالف العهد في تصرفهViolating the Covenant in His Dealing
- يرنو وقد ألف الكرى فكأنماHe yearns, though he is used to separation, as though
