1. غَنى وفوقَ جناحَيهِ سقيطُ ندى

    والغَيمُ يُنجزُ للحَوذانِ ما وَعدا

    He sings, and above his wings falls the dew of dawn,

    And the cloud fulfills what it promised the gardens.

  2. يهفُو بهِ خُوط رَيحانٍ تُغازلَه

    في الجوَّ ريحٌ فتلوي متنَهُ أودا

    The wind plays with him, caressing his body in the air,

    Swaying his frame this way and that.

  3. إذا استقلَّ ومش الأرضَ تَحسبُهُ

    مُصلياً إِن تلقَى سجدةً سَجدا

    When he takes off alone, and the earth thinks him

    Prostrate in prayer if he lowers his head.

  4. لهُ ثلاثةُ ألوانٍ تخالُ بها

    زُمرُّدا وعقيقاً جاورا بَردا

    He has three colors that vie with each other—

    Emerald, ruby, and chilly white.
