ومدركاتٍ ولم تلب وليسَ لها
روحٌ وتنصفُ من باغِ وإن بَعُدا
They overtake, yet never linger, and possess no
spirit; they exact justice from an aggressor, however far away.
في كُلّ واحِدةٍ صوتُ إِذا لَهَجَت
بهِ أصابت مُراداً في الذي مَرَدا
Each one has a voice; when it cries aloud,
by that voice it strikes its mark in whoever has rebelled.
كأنّ أولادها حنَّ إِذا انبعثت
لم تبقِ لا والداَ حيًا ولا وَلدا
It is as though their offspring moan when they fly forth:
they leave neither parent nor child alive.
