1. وَيلٍ كفكرٍ في إقامةِ دُولةٍ

    فلو كانَ في عِرقٍ لما نبضَ العِرقُ

    Woe to a thought dwelling on founding a state,

    Had it been in a vein, the vein would not have pulsed,

  2. كأنّ دراريهِ استرابت هُدوَّهُ

    فأخطت مداريها فليسَ لها طُرقُ

    As if its innermost being doubted its guidance,

    So its orbits went astray, leaving it pathless.
