وقصيرِ الظَّهر مرفوعِ الخطا

تامكِ الحارِكِ نَهدٍ مُعتدل

With back erect and graceful gait

Full breasts that gently swell and sway

وَهوَ محزومٌ على حيزومهِ

ببياض في أديم قد صُقل

Girth bound about his waist so slim

White linen on brown skin that gleams

فترى اللّيلَ على مَقدَمهِ

شطرهُ فيهِ وشطراً في الكَفَل

By night his forelock parts in two

One onto cheek and one onto scruff

أوكأنَّ السَّيفَ في موسطه

بين قَينَينَ لإصلاح الفَلَل

As though a sword midst form defined

Flanked by two hilts its blade to buff

أوكانًّ البدَر فيه أطبقت

فوقَهُ مُظلمة ثُمّ أطَل

Or like the full moon when it shines

Obscured at first then appears above
