أساء إلى جفني فؤادي بناره

ودمعي إلى خدّي بطولِ انحدارِه

My heart has harmed my eyelids with its fire

And my tears flow down my cheeks with its long descent

أَيأخذُ دمعي حُرَّ خدّى بما جنى

فؤادي لقد أخطأ مكانَ انتصارهِ

Will my tears take away the heat of my cheeks for what my heart has committed

My heart was mistaken in where it chose for its victory
