هذه حديقة ورد عز جانبها
This is a garden of roses that grace its side
يا حسن يوم تجلى بالهنآء لنا
O beauty of the day that dawned with joy for us
ما لي أرى الثغر من بيروت مبتسما
Roses bloom over the meadows
قد ابتسمت دار المدور حينما
The abode of Al-Mudawwar smiled when
فتاة لقد من الكريم لنا بها
A girl, the Generous has bestowed upon us with her
الموت للناس كالجزار للغنم
Death treats people like a butcher treats sheep,
أهلا بذات العلى والمجد والحسب
Greetings to you, O noble one of high station and glory,
أهلا بأكرم غادة
Welcome with the most generous maiden,
غابت وفي القلب من أشواقها لهب
She left, and in my heart her longing burns like fire,
أهلا بزائرنا الكريم ومرحبا
Welcome, our honored guest, and greetings!
يا أيها القوم الكرام ومن غدا
O noble people, and all who come tomorrow
أتت فشفت بطيب الوصل قلبي

أعيناي جودي بالدموع السواكب
My eyes weep stars,
تبدت فتاة الشرق تجلى من الخدر
The maiden of the East appeared, radiant from the tents
أهلا بقادمة من الكريم بها
Welcome to a generous visitor
غلام قد أتانا في ربيع
A youth came to us in the spring
هذا الكتاب الذي هام الفؤاد به
This book that stirs my heart's desire
قد أشرق الحي إذ حلت بساحته
The beloved has risen as she entered his abode
يا حاسبا دنياك دار قرار
O you who counts the world as a home
الحمد لله إرغاما لمن كفرا

يا نسمة من أرض وادي النيل

تبدى الهنا والهم أضحى مبددا

خريدة من ذوات اللطف والادب

إن كنت تبغي المدح غير مفند

داعي المنية في البرية قد دعا
The caller to death in the wilderness has called
كاس المنية دائر بين الورى
The cup of death circulates among people
لم يبق للحزن لي صبر ولا جلد
وليلة من ليالي الأنس زاهية
الجهل شاع بهذا العصر وا اسفي
يا ذا الهمام الذي أحيت عنايته
يا من تفضلتم في ذا الوداع لقد
يا وردة الترك إني وردة العرب
زارت بجنح الدجى والليل معتكر
نفحات الورد قد انتشرت
حديقة بات فيها الورد مزدهرا
متى تترك الأيام دمعي لا يجري
قد زارنا البدر الذي
تنبهت العيون النرجسيه
بأي فؤاد أبتغي بعدك السلوى
مني السلام على الذي هجر الحمى
فتح القطر عيون النرجس
هذه قرينة نجم شبلي قد ثوت
ورواية نسج النجيب برودها
