1. Supply yourself before setting out on a journey
For this life is but a fleeting illusion

2. And take piety with you as a bright lamp
To dispel the darkness of those nights

3. Doing good for people is more worthy
Than hoarding treasures and wealth

4. This world is not an abode of settlement
It is a land of pause and moving on

5. Whoever lives in this time, it's inevitable
For him to experience changing fortunes

6. And the life of this world is a road leading
To the abode of eternity and majesty

7. So whoever chooses the shortest path therein
Wins over those who take a longer route

8. Like the noble one who lived a short life
And passed on preceding the elders

9. He was a child in whom God had instilled
The wisdom of adults at the peak of perfection

10. The water of life dried from his body when
The fire of his heart was set ablaze

11. O crescent, you contained the light of a full moon
How much more radiant you would have been when complete

12. An eclipse befell you in the prime of your youth
We never knew a crescent could be eclipsed

13. If your throne was once empty of you
The heart is not devoid of you

14. Or if you are now worn down, sorrow in grief
Has long been our friend

15. Stop your tears Abuhu, for this
Is the destined decree of your Exalted Lord

16. Fate took back its gift hastily
Not shy to retrieve what it once gave

17. Thus the noble one surpasses gloriously
To a bliss prepared for the youth

18. It is the likes of him that elicits wailing and crying
Not a dirham or mithqal
