ولم يبق حب الغيد لي غير مهجة وقلب

Nothing remains of the love of al-Ghayda for me but anguish,

ته ما استطعت فغيرك المملول

If you cannot help me, then others are helpless

عصف الغصن الرطيب

The moist branch rustled

انظر البركة التي تتراءى لمحيا

Behold the blessings that appear before my eyes

من بعد فراقي جيرتي بالشعب

After my separation, I passed by the valley,

جود شمس الدين شيخ

The sanctuary, my master Attaghi

بعثت إليك بطيفها الآرام

I sent you her gentle spirit,

لا يدعى بدر لوجهك نسبة

The full moon is not compared to your face

يا مبتدع العذل ان عذلك اشراك

O innovator of love, your love has entangled me

يا أحمد الدوي دعوة مشفق

O Ahmed Al-Duwe, a compassionate call

توهمت إذ مرت بنا الغبد بكرة

I imagined when the mist passed by us at dawn

بات ساجي الطرف والشوق يلح

My eyes are restless with yearning

زر واجل لمسمعي كؤوس اللفظ

Roam and make my ears cups of words

خذ بيدي ان بيننا نسب

Take my hand if there is kinship between us

ان تقبل وتدبر يا نور العين

If you accept and contemplate, O light of my eyes

قدوم لاعياد الربيع متمم

The arrival of spring holidays is complete

لم يبق وجدي لحسن الصبر وجدانا

My passion remains undiminished by patience,

نتمنى الوفاء من عشرة الناس

We wish for loyalty from the people of affection

لي في ادعاء المكرمات حقوق

I have the right to boast of honors

إلام انتظاري بالوصال ولا وصل

What is the purpose of my waiting for union when there is no union,

خذ العفو وأمر بالذي أنت أهله

Take forgiveness and command what you are worthy of

نهن على حين ارتقيت اللياليا

They blamed me when I climbed the nights

سلام محب رق حالا ومنطقا

Hello lover's gentleness, logic

ومعذر صفحات وجنته

With apologies, pages of paradise

كبد يذوب ومدمع هطل

A melting liver and falling tears

يا من يد الرحمن قد خطت على

O you whose cheeks the hand of the Merciful has inscribed

أنا التارك الأوطان والنازح الذي

I am the one who left homelands and migrated

مولاي يا من خصه ربه

My Master, O You whom your Lord

ألذ الهوى ما طال فيه التجنب

The most delightful love is that lingered over;

إني أنا الفتح سمعتم به

I am Al-Fath, you have heard of me,

نظروا لغايتك التي لم تلحق

They looked for glory unattained,

حين عز الوصال الا قليلا

When the intimacy of union was scarce

من ارقني قد استلذ الارقا

The one who kept me awake found pleasure in keeping me awake

أنا إن غضبت وإن رضيت حبيب

Whether I'm angry or content, my beloved

عكفت على شرب الدخان وفي الحشا

I inclined towards smoking tobacco in solitude

لا تبد لمن تحبه ما أبدي

Do not reveal your love to the one you adore

نحن في روضة وماء وظل

We are in a garden, water and shade

وكنت قرير العين ليلة وصلهم

You brought me joy the night they arrived,

كل الفراسخ واميال الفلا والبرد

All the miles and leagues of land and sea

غير جفاء الحسان يحتمل

Be patient with estrangement, though hard it is to bear,

فدى لعينيك دون الناس عينائي

My eyes I sacrifice for yours, beyond all people's eyes,

ثلاثة أعياد أتت وهي تبسم

Three festivals arrived with a smile

رأى اللوم من كل الجهات فراعه

He saw blame from all sides, so it alarmed him,

مولاي بقيت قد يراني الاسف

My Lord, grief still sees me,

أصبحت ولثم اخمصيه املى

I rise and kiss his feet though they are full

قدوم به تاج المسرات بعقد

The arrival of the crowned king with a necklace

باتت تنوح وبت اسمعها

She began to wail and I heard her

مالكتي تملكي

You possess me

سمعت ان يعيني سيدي رمدا

I heard that helping me would pain my master,

ان تكن غبت عن عيوني احتجابا

If you have been absent from my eyes as a veil,

أحسن ما يهديه أمثالنا

The best gift that folks like us can give

ومورد الوجنات شمس جماله

The source of gardens, the sun of his beauty,

كبد تذوب وادمع هطل

A liver melting, and tears pouring down

سقم بطرفك قد اقضى الى بدني

Your glance has inflicted my body with illness

ولم يبق حب الغيد لي غير مهجة

Nothing remains of the love of the young women except my innermost being,

يا رب كم اقصد بالشعر سواك

O Lord, to whom but You does my poetry aspire?

يا عاذلي لو رأيتك في الحرم حليت

O reproacher, if you saw me in the sanctuary, you would be adorned,

لي بعد بينك لوعة المفؤد

After you, I have intense longing and sorrow

القلب لديك وهو عندي الغالي

My heart is with you, my precious one

مساعيك فرع النجم عنها يفرع

Your efforts are like a branch of a star from which more branches spread

بصباح وجهك تشرق الاعياد

With your face the holidays shine bright,

نثر الربيع ذخائر النوار

Spring has scattered its treasures of light

من يدخل الافيون بيت لهاته

Whoever enters the opium den, let him put his life in his hands before him.

أعيون رمت بقلبي النبالا

Eyes have cast arrows into my heart

زال عن جسمك الذي امة الفضل

Gone is the body from which the community of excellence benefits

يا دارها بالشعب شعب الحائل

O home in Al-Shaab, the people of Ha'il's home

بك التأم مولاي شعب المنى

My heart aches for you, my Lord, beloved of pilgrims,

إلهي جعلت مناعي القريض

My God, You made me a poet

طمن فؤادك أي حر

Reassure your heart, O free man

عجبا لسيف لحاظ من احببته

وأرى التولع بالدخان وشربه

قد نفذت ذخائر الفؤاد

كان غزالا فشوهوه

قل لمن رام ان يدانيك مجدا

لله يوم قد غنمنا به

تذكر السفح فانهلت سوافحه

يا من لمن يدعوه سامع

طرقت طروق الطيف وهنا

إليك امنطى لجة البحر ظهرا

أبثك ما عندي فهل أنت سامع

قدم الصيام وما استقر به السرى

أتى البرء يقفو اثر ما صنع السقم

تفقد محبا ولو بالسؤال

كحل بعينيك ام ضرب من الكحل

وليلة كأن السعد فيها ايسنا

غرست لكم في المدح ما اخضر عوده
