1. My heart aches for you, my Lord, beloved of pilgrims,
May your prosperity last forever,

2. You rose in Egypt when the crescent moon of fasting appeared,
So can the eye refrain from seeing you,

3. And be content after your splendor with darkness?
I have often turned my gaze to you,

4. And you know I am full of passion,
I have no passion but for the High One,

5. Nor longing except for the noble ones,
So how could you decide to be distant from us

6. When your justice has spread among all people?
And how could you rise in glory

7. When there is none to sing your praises?
Of what use is nearness to the abode of love

8. When barriers of propriety stand between us?
If you allow me to see you, I will see you

9. With the full perception of completion,
By God, if your affection for me is not in words

10. Let it be in well wishes and peace.
