ما للنصارى إلي ذنب

The Christians have done me no wrong

كتب المشيب بأبيض في أسود

The white of old age wrote in black

جاء المسيح من الإله رسولا

Christ came from God a messenger

أهل التقى والعلم أهل السؤدد

The people of piety and knowledge are people of happiness

انظر بحمد الله في

Look with praise to Allah in

عرج برامة إنها لمرامي

Roam around Al-Rammah, for it is a place of aspirations

أرى المستخدمين مشوا جميعا

I see the users have all walked

انظر بحقك في أمر الدواوين

Look into their affairs concerning finances

سارت العيس يرجعن الحنينا

The camels marched, yearning and longing returned

يا رب صل على المختار من مضر

O Lord, bestow blessings upon the Chosen One from Mudar,

أمن تذكر جيران بذي سلم

Were these tears shed remembering past neighbors

إلى متى أنت باللذات مشغول

For how long will you be preoccupied with pleasures, while you will be held accountable for all that you have forwarded?

اليوم قد حكم الهوى بالمعدله

Today desire has judged with justice,

حي بلبيس منزلا في العماره

Bilbeis had a lodging by a building,

قد خص بالفضل قطليجا وأيدمر

Qatlīja and Aydmar were blessed in lineage and fruit,

جوارك من جور الزمان يجير

Your neighborhood protects from tyranny of time,

إن تحي آمالي برؤية عيسى

If you revive my hopes by seeing Jesus

كيف ترقى رقيك الأنبياء

How exalted is your nobility, O Messenger of God, you who the heavens themselves cannot reach!

بمدح المصطفى تحيا القلوب

In praise of Mustafa, hearts come alive,

ذو يراع يروع كالسيف إما

Possessor of awe that terrifies like a sword,

أخبروني غضبة وصلفا

They spoke to me angrily and rudely

غدا جامع ابن العاص كهف أئمة

Tomorrow Ibn al-Aas's mosque is the cave of imams

سموه عمرا فصحفنا اسمه غمرا

They called it life, but we misread its name as ordeal

مسافر سارت أحاديثه

The traveler's tales spread

أهوى والمشيب قد حال دونه

I yearned, though gray hair had come between us,

نهى السلطان عن شرب الحميا

The sultan has forbidden drinking wine

ما في الزمان جواد

There is none in time

إن النصارى واليهود معاشر

Christians and Jews are groups

إن خلق الشهود والعمال

The creation of witnesses and workers

لا تظلموني وتظلموا الحسبه

Do not wrong me and wrong virtue,

أمدائح لي فيك أم تسبيح

My praise for you, is it glorification or hymning?

يا أيها السيد الذي شهدت

O lord whose words testified to me

وسلن حبقوق المصرح باسمه

The elucidator made clear his name

يهود بلبيس كل عيد

The Jews of Bilbeis are better to me

نم هنيئا محمد بن علي

Congratulations Muhammad son of Ali

كونوا معي عونا على الأيام

Stay with me as support in my days

قل لولي الدولة المرتجى

Say to the guardian of the aspired state,

مدح النبي أمان الخائف الوجل

Praising the Prophet brings peace to the anxious soul

إلهي على كل الأمور لك الحمد

My God, all praise belongs to You

تجنب أحاديث الحسود فواجب

Avoid the talk of the envious, for it's a duty

فداؤك من إذا رمت امتنانا

Your ransom is he who, when you aim to do him a favor,

أما المحبة لمن فهي بذل نفوس

Motherly love is the offering of souls

ما أكلنا في ذا الصيام كنافه

We had no kunafa in this fast

الصبح بدا من طلعته

The dawn shone from its rising

ليت شعري ما مقتضى حرماني

I wish I knew why I'm deprived

عاش من بعد موته البوصيري

The vizier al-Bussayri lived after dying,

لقد عاب شعري في البرية شاعر

ثكلت طوائف المستخدمينا

وافاك بالذنب العظيم المذنب

أزمعوا البين وشدوا الركابا

كم قلت للأكرم الحشاء أنصحه

أنشأت مدرسة ومارستانا

قد أخذ المسلمون عكا

بقبة قبر الشافعي سفينة

قل لعلي الذي صداقته

محمد أشرف الأعراب والعجم

قلت لكم عند السراق مبلغ

يا أيها المولى الوزير الذي

ثناؤك من روض الخمائل أعطر
