عيد قيس من حب لبنى ولبنى

أمس تراب أرضك يا لبينى

ويوم منى أعرضت عني فلم أقل

وما أحببت أرضكم ولكن

وللحب آيات تبين للفتى

أنبئت أن لخالي هجمة حبسا

لعمرك لولا البين لانقطع الهوى

أحبك أصنافا من الحب لم أجد

وإني لمفن دمع عيني بالبكا

I am skilled at weeping, my eyes pouring forth tears

وإني لأهوى النوم في غير حينه

إلى الله أشكو فقد لبنى كما شكا

To God I complain, as one who lost his loved ones complained to God,

بانت لبينى فأنت اليوم متبول

My beloved turned away, so today you've become indifferent,

نباكر أم تروح غدا رواحا

ماتت لبينى فموتها موتي

إن تك لبنى قد أتى دون قربها

خليلي مالي قد بليت ولا أرى

وخبرتماني أن تيماء منزل

بانت لبينى فهاج القلب من بانا

تمتع بها ما سعفتك ولا تكن

ولقد أردت الصبر عنك فعاقني

إذا ذكرت لبنى تأوه واشتكى

قد قلت للقلب لا لبناك فاعترف

لقد خفت أن لا تقنع النفس بعدها

لعمرك أنني لأحب سلعا

لعمرك إني يوم جرعاء مالك

وما كل ما منتك نفسك خاليا

عفا سرف من أهله فسراوع

ويلي وعولي وما لي حين تفلتني

فإن يحجبوها ويحل دون وصلها

وداع دعا إذ نحن بالخيف من منا

لو أن امرأ أخفى الهوى عن ضميره

بنفسي من قلبي له الدهر ذاكر

لو أنني أسطيع صبرا وسلوة

فما وجدت وجدي بها أم واحيد

لعمري يقد صاح الغراب ببينهم

هبيني امرأ إن تحسنى فهو شاكر

نباح كلب بأعلى الواد من سرف

يقر بعيني قربها ويزيدني
