- أجل مالك جلي الوصفThe noblest of lords, clear in his qualities,
- أحدث عن أخلاق أسعد مالكI speak of the morals of the most fortunate ruler
- أسعد الخلفاء والأمراءThe happiest of caliphs and princes
- اسعد بنيل الأماني من ملكRejoice in attaining your wishes from a king,
- أعظم به من إمامHow great an imam he is!
- أكرم بملك باهر إمدادهHow noble a dominion whose bounty is splendid—
- السعيد من سعدتFortunate is he who has brought happiness
- أمير سما الملاك بالدين والعلمA prince who surpassed kings in faith and knowledge,
- أمير عظيم رحيب غنىA great prince, vast in wealth.
- أوائل الفتح فتحThe beginnings of victory are victory,
- أوفى صلاة زكيهA pure blessing in fullest measure
- بأسعد مالك وفي العهودThrough the most fortunate sovereign, faithful to his pledges,
- بحب آل محمدThrough love of Muhammad's family,
- بحمد الله تفتح الرسائلWith praise of God, letters are opened.
- بدائع الألحان والأوزانThe marvels of melodies and meters,
- بنصر إمام حل مغربنا الهناThrough an imam’s victory, joy came to our Maghreb;
- تبدى بأفق الملك بدر سعادةA full moon of good fortune appeared on the realm’s horizon;
- تعالى تعالى إله الورىExalted, exalted is the God of all creation.
- جاد مدحي لإمام فاضلMy praise flowed freely for a virtuous imam,
- حق حق الهنا بأسمى إمامWell deserved, well deserved is joy in the most exalted imam—
- خلافة قد سمت مفاخرهاA caliphate whose glories have risen so high
- دم محب ملكناRemain a lover of our king,
- رائق الأمداح والغزلWith exquisite praise and love poetry
- رئيس حبه بالقلب يأويA leader—love for him finds shelter in the heart;
- زكي المجد والقدرNoble in glory and standing,
- سباني غزال في المحاسن مفردWhere e'er I roam, a graceful deer appears
- سلطان عدل وفضلA sultan of justice and virtue,
- سوابق النجح جالتThe forerunners of success roamed
- سيد مدحه حسنA lord whose praise is beautiful,
- شمائل ملك سما شرفاThe virtues of kingship, exalted in honor,
- طال في زهو وفي طربLong endured, in my glory and in my ecstasy,
- عظمت نعم من أمير سعيدGreat are the blessings from Emir Sa'id.
- على أرجائه مني سلامPeace from me upon its every corner,
- عليه من الحب طول الدوامUpon him, out of love, for all eternity,
- قول علي لحارث عجبAli's words to Harith are wondrous
- لأحكم ملك زكي جليTo the wisest king, virtuous and illustrious,
- لطيب الأنفاس والأرجFor him of sweet breath and fragrance,
- لعالي الجاه والقدرِFor the one of high status and worth
- لله أسعد وقتGod, what a supremely happy time!
- له على الكل منهAll owe him a debt of gratitude,
- محل حمد مؤبدAn everlasting place of praise.
- محل ود وعهدAn abode of affection and covenant,
- مدائحي لعلاهMy praises of his eminence
- من السعادة أسعدHappier than happiness
- منى النفوس الهنا وراحة البدنThe wishes of souls are bliss and bodily ease;
- هذا وإني للعود محافظThat said, I am indeed committed to returning.
- هذه أحرف حب حمدكThese are letters of love in your praise,
- همام جليل قد سما بمحمدAn illustrious hero has indeed risen high through Muhammad;
- هناء فضل ممجدJoy's excellence glorified
- هني نقي زهي بريPleasant, pure, splendid, blameless.
- وافى كتاب حبيبA beloved's letter arrived,
- وعلى عهد إن ظفرت بقربكمAnd I pledge: if I attain nearness to you,
- وعلى من آواه منه بساطAnd upon those whom his carpet sheltered,
- وعني خبر الجميع بأننيAnd everyone has been told, on my behalf, that I
- ولاية ملكنا وافي العهودThe reign of our king, faithful to his pledges—
- ولنقل للحب الذيAnd let us say to the love whose
- ولولا ما أرجي من لقاكمIf not for my hope of meeting you
- ووحق الوفا وحفظ العهودAnd by the sanctity of loyalty and the keeping of pledges,
- يا حسنه من ملك حسنO beauty of a good king
- يمم حمى تاج الملوك محمدMake for the protected domain of Muhammad, Crown of Kings,
- يمن الهناء بطيب له هممThe blessing of joy has lofty aspirations in goodness;
- يمن غرب نصر ملك أوحدThe West's good fortune is the victory of a peerless king.
