محلُّan abode ودٍّaffection وعهدٍand covenant
محلُّ ودٍّ وعهدٍ
حلَّdwelt in الصدورَthe hearts هَواهُlove for him
حلَّ الصدورَ هَواهُ
An abode of affection and covenant,
The abode of love and promise
Love for him dwelt in hearts.
Has brought joy to hearts
حوىpossessed محامِدَpraiseworthy qualities حلمٍforbearance
حوى محامِدَ حلمٍ
وماand not حواهاpossessed them سواهُanyone but him
وما حواها سواهُ
He possessed the praiseworthy qualities of forbearance,
It contained the praises of a hopeful dream
And no one but he possessed them.
And whatever else it contained
للحمدِof praise أهلَwas worthy لمّاwhen
للحمدِ أهلَ لمّا
عمencompassed الودودَthe loving one عطاهُhis bounty
عم الودودَ عطاهُ
He was worthy of praise when
For praise it made worthy
His bounty encompassed the loving one.
He who spread affection universally
للاسمfor the name لاحshone forth عُلوٌeminence
للاسم لاح عُلوٌ
سماrose above السماءَthe sky عُلاهُhis eminence
سما السماءَ عُلاهُ
Eminence shone upon the name;
The name shone highly
His eminence rose above the sky.
It named the heavens sublimity
أدامَmay he preserve مولاهُhis Lord دهراًfor ages
أدامَ مولاهُ دهراً
لدىamong المُلوكِthe kings عَلاهُhis eminence
لدى المُلوكِ عَلاهُ
May his Lord preserve for ages
May his Master make it last forever
His eminence among kings.
With the kings may it remain lofty
علىupon عُلاهhis eminence سلامٌpeace
على عُلاه سلامٌ
مدىthe span of الدوامِeternity مداهُits span
مدى الدوامِ مداهُ
Peace be upon his eminence;
Upon its loftiness, peace
Its span is the span of eternity.
For the duration of time, may it extend
