I see the sun of origin ailing,
الدهر لا ينفك من حدثانه
Time does not cease from its events
وبالحمة الزهراء قد أسعد المنى
With its radiant redness it brought joy to the wish
عاف النهار مخافة الرقباء
He shunned daylight, fearing prying eyes
أستودع الرحمن مستودعي
I entrust my secret love to the Most Merciful
يا غائبا خطرات القلب محضره
O absent one, my heart's thoughts yearn for you
أنظر إلى النزجس الوضاح حين بدا

مضاؤك مضمون له النصر والفتح

فبشر سماء السنا والسناء
Rejoice, O heaven of joy,
بخافقة القرطين قلبك خافق
With the fluttering of eyelashes, your heart flutters,
والنفس عادمة الكمال وإنما
The soul is imperfect in its essence, yet
نوى أجرت الأفلاك وهي النواعج
The stars intended their orbits while they were languishing,
عجبت لغمازين علمي بجهلهم

عج بالحمى حيث الغياض الغين

وشادن أهيف حيا بنرجسة
الناس مثل حباب
وأجل مفقود شباب ذاهب
تيقن أن الله أكرم جيرة
وفتية لم يزالوا طول يومهم
أقبلن في الحبرات يقصرن الخطى
مهد جدير أن يسمى أفق
دوين الكثيب الفرد قضب وكثبان
هن الأماني مدمنات حران
أربرب بالكثيب الفرد أم نشأ
إلى الموت رجعي بعد حين فإن أمت
ما بال ريقته في سلم مبسمه
إذا جاءني زائرا حسنه
وساجعة الأطيار تشدو كأنها
شمس الظهيرة هل تدرين ما حدتا
وسقم فؤادي من سقام جفونه
كذا فلتلح قمرا زاهرا
