1. Your cypress tree attracts the setting suns
Making the absent ones present again

2. How strange that my heart remains a believer
In the law of passion which, when united, was an infidel

3. I wish for my nighttime thoughts to spread
And its beauty sees the viewpoint of the heretic as non-propagating

4. You are a conscience whose essence is not known
So why have they made consciences into definitives?

5. The times have no control over their ruling
According to deeds, it makes sources flow

6. And I have not ceased searching for the essence of beauty
I have not found any meaning but your spellbinding beauty

7. And knowing the days leads to experiences
And whoever understands the hemistiches has unraveled the circles

8. And if not for the students of time, the goal of its knowledge
They would not have laid out from it a detailed and ample scroll

9. And if not for Abu Yaḥyá ibn Maʿn Muḥammad
The days would not have been treasures for me

10. So do not deny that I have created wonders, for their glory
Rare masterpieces have inspired me to create more masterpieces

11. Making pilgrimage to the sanctuaries of time, secure and fearful
Multitudes, as the white-robed pilgrims made pilgrimage to the sacred places

12. So visit Mecca, no matter what sins you have committed
And visit its horizons, no matter what poverty you have complained of

13. The mirrors of the ages wander in its majesty
And the later ones envy its earlier loyalists
