- اختلجت عيني فأبصرتهMy Eyes Beheld Him
- إذا أزموا ألقوا فضول حبائهمIf They Are In Need, They Cast Away Their Excess Love
- إذا الحرب جالت بهم جولةSoftly the west wind sighs
- إذا السنة الشهباء مدت سماءهاWhen the starry sky stretched out its horizon
- إذا المرء أثرى ثم ضن برفدهIf the Man becomes Wealthy then Stingy with those who Enrich him
- إذا أنت لم تملل أخاك بقلبهIf you do not tire of your brother in his affliction
- إذا ذكر الناس أعداءهم
- إذا ذم من زمن يومهIf Time Criticized Its Era
- إذا سقى الله مرجوا لنائبةIf God waters a pasture for us
- إذا طمع يوما غزاني منحته
- إذا ما الفكر ولد حسن لفظ
- إذا ما انقضى مجلس للوزيرIf the Minister's Council Session Ends
- إذا ما بدوا والقوم فوق سروجهم
- آذنتك الشعرات البيض
- أراك إذا أيسرت خيمت عندنا
- أراك فلا أرد الطرف كيلاI see you, yet I do not turn my gaze, lest
- أزالت عزاء القلب بعد التجلدRelieving the Heart's Grief After Enduring Patiently
- أساءوا وفيهم محسنون فإن تهبThe Benefactor
- أسد ضار إذا مانعته
- أسرك يا مناي ولا أسوكMy Love Has Captured Me, I Do Not Blame You
- اسمعي مني أبثك شانيListen to Me, I Recount My Sorrows
- اشرب الراح صحيحاDrink Joy Wholeheartedly
- أشرق المشرق بالمعتزThe Rising of the East with Pride
- أصبح الملك عاليا بأبي العباسThe King Became Exalted through my Father al-'Abbas
- أصبحت من رأي أبي جعفرI have become, in my father Ja'far's view
- أضحت عرى الإسلام وهي منوطة
- أضحى هلال العهد قدAloft, the crescent moon of the era now shines
- أعتقني سوء ما فعلت من الرق
- أعيضت بعد حمل الشوكI See The Thorns After Carrying Them
- أقبلن يكنفن مثل الشمس طالعةThey come like the rising sun
- ألا رب لؤم بين عز وثروةAlas, my Lord, glory and wealth are a burning fire
- ألا قل لخير الناس نفسا ووالداAla Qul Likhayr Alnnas Nafsaw Wa Walid
- ألان إذا قرت عيون وحققتAl'aan idhaa qurat 'uyoon wa haqqaqat
- الله أظهر دينهGod Made His Religion Manifest
- الله أيد بالخلافة جعفراGod Supported Ja'far with the Caliphate
- ألم ترها مرة إذ نأتDid You Not See Her Once When She Came By
- إما تريني أمام القوم متبعاEither you see me following the people
- أميل مع الذمام على ابن أميI lean with the south wind upon the son of my mother
- إن الزمان وما ترى بمفارقيTime and what you see have parted from me
- إن امرأ ضن بمعروفه
- إن لا أراك إذا ظلمت
- أنا من بين ذا الورى مظلومI am wronged among the people of this world
- أناة فإن لم تغن أعقب بعدها
- إنما المرء صورةThe Man Is But An Image
- إني اغتربت أرجي أن أنال غنىI yearn for riches though in exile I remain
- أواقف أنت من صبر على ثقة
- أولى البرية طرا أن تواسيهThe most virtuous of creation should console him,
- أيرضيك أن تضنى فدام لك الرضاWould You Be Satisfied If You Were Cherished
- إيها أبا جعفر وللدهر كراتO Father of Ja'far, the times spin round and round
- أيها الربع الذي قد دثرا
- بأبي قل لي لكي أعلمAbi, Tell Me So I May Know
- باتت تشوقني برجع حنينها
- بارك الله للأمير أبي العباسBlessings Upon Prince Abu al-'Abbas
- بدا حين أثرى بإخوانهBrothers Have Riches Begun When He Has Flourished
- برزن فلا ذو اللب أقين لبهBurzun Falaa Dhul-Labbu Aqeenu Labbuhu
- بقلبي عن هوى البيض انصرافWith My Heart Turned Away from Love of the Fair
- بكى البين قبلي عاشقون ولا أرى
- بلوت الزمان وأهل الزمان
- تأمل سماء أظلت عليContemplating a Sky that Shaded Me
- تخذتكم درعا وترسا لتدفعواThe enemy's arrows you did ward from me
- تزيده الأيام إن أقبلت
- تعز يا خير الورى عن أخThe best of creations, be consoled for a brother
- تغير لي دهر وأنكر صاحب
- تغير لي فيمن تغير حارثChanged For Me Is He Who Changed, Harith
- تلا جري عباس يزيد وخالدTalat Jurayy Abbas Yazeed wa Khalid
- تلج السنون بيوتهم وترى لهم
- تمر الصبا صفحا بساكن ذي الغضاYouthful Time Passes the Stoic Calmly
- حب لأحمد قد فشاLove for Ahmed Has Spread
- حسن حوى كل المحاسن واعتلىBeauty Embodied All Perfections and Rose Above
- حي أجساد جبل بدناتLiving Bodies of Mount Badanat
- خذي خبري عن سائرين صحبتهم
- خل النفاق لأهله
- خير ما سائس وخير مسوسThe best advisor is the best advisor
- دع المن عن قوم أرقوك أنفساLeave off blaming a people who distressed you
- دعني أواصل من قطعتLet Me Continue From Where You Left Off
- دعوت لإحدى النائبات محمداI called Mohammed for one of the deputies
- دعوتك في بلوى ألمت صروفهاI called you in afflictions whose turns pained me
- دموع دعاهن الهوى فأجبنهTears that longing called, so they obeyed
- دنت بأناس عن تناء زيارةVisiting People Out of Yearning
- راحت به العيس عن أرض بها شجنGone with longing from a land of sorrow
- ربما ارتجت الليالى
- ربما تكره النفوس من الأمرPerhaps souls hate some matter
- رحنا إليك وقد راحت بك الراحWe went to you when comfort left with you
- رد قولي وصدق الأقوالا
- سأشكر عمرا إن تراخت منيتيI will be grateful if my desire wanes from me
- ساعدنا الدهر فبتنا معاHelp us, O Time, for we have spent together
- سقيا ورعيا لأيام مضت سلفاGrazing and Watering for Days Gone By
- سل الليل من يجلو الدجى عن متونه
- سيدي أنت إنني بك صبMy Friend, I Am With You Patient
- صف مراحا إن كنت تهوى مراحاDescribe the scent of meadows, if you desire meadows
- ضحك الدهر بعد طول عبوسTime laughed after long frowning
- ظلوم محاجر الحدقه
- عذلت امرءا في عشقه ليس يعذرك
- عفت مساو تبدت منك واضحة
- علق نفيس من الدنيا فجعت بهI detached my soul from this world, so I wept for it
- عهدي بعوف وهو من مازن
- عيناك قد حكتا مبيتكYour Eyes Have Told of Your Night's Lodging
- غشيتني من الهموم غواشThe sorrows have overwhelmed me, clouding my mind
- فإن تشبعي منا وتروي ضلالةThirst Quenched through Us is Misguidance
- فإن تكن الدنيا أنالتك ثروة
- فدعني راغما أشقى بوجدي
- فصرت من سوء ما بليت بهI Seek Refuge From the Harm That Has Befallen Me
- فعلت فأثنوا شاكرين لمنعمYou acted, and they thanked the Benefactor gratefully,
- فلو كان للشكر شخص يبينIf Gratitude Had a Person Who Appeared
- فهبني مسيئا مثل ما قلت ظالماGive Me Grace To Wrong As I Have Said Unjustly
- قالت بعدت فخنت في الحبShe said you were distant and unfaithful in love
- قالت لئن خفت من شيب ومن كبرShe Said: If I Fear Gray Hair and Old Age
- قدرت فلم تضرر عدوا بقدرةPowerless to Harm
- قسيمان من قلبي قسيم لحبها
- قطع الموت كل حبل وثيقDeath Has Severed Every Close Tie
- قل للخليفة ترب العلم والأدب
- قلت إن الذنب لي والذنبI said: "The sin is mine, though the deed
- قلت لها حين أكثرت عذليI said to her when she reproached me excessively
- قولا لعبد الله ذاك الذي
- كان أخا ثم عاد لي أملاHe Was My Brother, Then Became My Hope Again
- كان الشباب كخضاب قد نصلYouth was like dyed hair well-combed
- كفى بفعال امرئ عالمEnough of a Man's Deeds are a Sign
- كل لساني عن وصف ما أجدMy Heart Cannot Describe What I Feel
- كم ترى يبقى على ذا بدنيHow much longer will this body of mine remain
- كم قد تجرعت من غيظ ومن حزن
- كن كيف شئت وقل ما تشا
- كنت السواد لمقلتيI Belonged to My Sorrows
- كيف أصبحت صفي النفسHow you have become the most pure of soul
- لا أهنيك بطوسI do not congratulate you on blunders
- لا تعقدن عقدة إن كنت ناقضهاDo Not Make a Knot if You Will Undo It
- لا تلمني فإن همك أن تثريDo Not Blame Me, For Your Aim Is To Get Rich
- لا دار للمرء بعد الموت يسكنهاNo Home for Man after Death Where He May Dwell
- لا يمنعنك خفض العيش في دعةDo not let hardship of living prevent you from tranquility
- لاموا وقالوا اصطبر عنها فقلت لهم

- لكل عدو جولة ثم مرجعFor every enemy there is a round, then a return
- لم أبك من صرف دهر
- لم أر نحسا مذ غداة أمسI have not seen misfortune since yesterday morning

- لئن أدرك الزيات بالزيت رتبةIf Zayat Attains High Rank Through Bribery

- لئن صدرت لي زورة عن محمدIf a Falsehood Came to Me From Muhammad
- لئن كنت ملهى للعيون وقرةIf you were delight for eyes and joy
- ليهنك أصهار أذلت بعزهاLi-einkun as-hara athalat bi-izza'ha
- ما الذي أفعل أم ما أقولWhat Should I Do or What Should I Say
- ما لي بجائحة أرى
- ما واحد من واحدOne of One
- مبتسم عن برد
- متيم متلف تلددهA lover consumed, tormented by his yearning
- مررت يوما حجرة القبورI passed by the tomb one day
- مضت على عهده اللياليThe Nights Have Passed Over His Era
- معجب عند نفسه
- معودتي الغفران للذنب والرضى
- ملامك عني جل خطب فأوجعاMy angel, cease reproaching me, for grief has left me sick
- من أتاني في حاجة فله الفضلHe who comes to me with a need
- من بالخلافة أولىWho is Most Deserving of the Caliphate
- من تهيا له أخ كأخ لي
- من كانت الآمال ذخرا لهWhose Hopes Were His Provisions
- من يشتري مني إخاء محمدWho Will Buy My Brotherhood of Muhammad
- نصيحة أيها الوزير
- نعم الورى بسوابغ النعماءThe Bountiful Land of Virtuous Women
- نعى الناعي إلي أبي
- هب الزمان رماني
- هل كنت تهوين أن أرضى سواك وأنDid you wish that I be content with none but you, and that
- هنتك أكرومة جللت نعمتهاYou're the sun whose beauty adorned its blessings
- هنيئا للوزير قضاء دينCongratulations to the Minister for Paying Off Debt
- هوى وغلت به الأحشاء منهاPassion surged and overflowed from within
- وأجني على قومي وأحمل عنهمI bear others' burdens though faultless
- وإذا امرؤ كنفت به آباؤهIf a Man Is Sheltered By His Fathers
- وإذا جزى الله امرأ بإخائهIf God Rewards a Man for His Brotherhood
- وإذا دعوت أخا يزينكBrother, When I Call You
- وأفضل ما يأتيه ذو الدين والحجىThe best that can come to a man of faith and wisdom
- وأنت هوى النفس من بينهم
- وإني في دعائك عن خطوبAnd I in calling you from misfortunes
- وجني ورد فوق خد مشرقA Rose Blooming on a Radiant Cheek
- وحاكم في القلوبA Ruler in Hearts
- وخل كنت عين الرشد منهI used to be the eye of guidance from him
- وخليل لي أرضاهMy friend, the earth pleased me
- وصاحب ماجد خلائقهMy Friend Majid's Nature
- وصلت رقعة الأمير الرئيسThe President's Note Has Arrived
- وعابك أقوام وقالوا شبيهةThose who find fault with you said you are like her
- وعلمتني كيف الهوى وجهلتهAnd You Taught Me How to Love and I Was Ignorant of It
- وقائل لي أبداAnd One Who Says to Me Forever
- وقلت لهم قرب كقربي طاهرAnd I Said to Them, Come Close as My Heart is Pure
- وكنا متى ما نلتمس بسيوفناAnd whenever we sought glory with our swords
- وكنت أخي بإخاء الزمانYou were my brother in the brotherhood of time
- وكنت أخي بالدهر حتى إذا نباMy Brother Until Time Wept
- وكنت أرجي أنه حين يلتحيI hoped when we met
- ولحيني قلت لا أرضىI Dreamed My Lady Came
- ولرب خدن كان إنFor how many a bosom friend, if
- ولرب نازلة يضيق بها الفتىAnd for my Lord relief comes, when straits oppress a man
- ولست كباك من تهامة منزلا
- ولكن الجواد أبا هشامBut the generous Abū Hishām
- ولكن عبد الله لما حوى الغنىBut Abdullah, when he amassed wealth
- ولم تدر يوم البين أني وأنهاAnd You Did Not Know The Day of Separation That It Was I and Her
- ولما بدا جعفر في الخميسWhen Ja'far Appeared on Thursday
- ولما رأيتك لا فاسقاWhen I Saw You, Not Lascivious
- ولما علتني كبرة وتوزعتWhen Old Age Began to Weigh on Me and Scatter My Wits
- وليلة من الليالي الزهرA Night of the Nights of Flowers
- وما زلت مذ لدن اعطيتهSince I was granted him as a gift
- وما لبس الأقوام ثوبا من الهوىLove's Raiment
- ومن كان يؤتى من عدو وحاسد
- ومؤمل للنائبات إذاThe Hopeful Deputies If
- وناجيت نفسي بالفراق أروضهاI whispered to myself about parting to tame it
- ونبئت ليلى أرسلت بشفاعةI told Layla had sent interceding
- يا أبا جعفر لكم من نعيم
- يا أخا العرف إذا عنO brother of knowledge, when it turns away
- يا أخا لم أر في الناس خلاBrothers, I have not seen anyone pure among people
- يا أميرا ما رأيناMy Prince, We Have Not Seen
- يا با علي خير قولك ما
- يا صاحبي تأملا عذرىMy friend, consider my excuse
- يا صديقي الذي بذلت له الودMy Friend Who I Gave My Affection To
- يا صديقي بالأمس صرت عدوا
- يا ظالما أدلى علياOh you who wronged me though I trusted you,
- يا مذيقي غصة الكمدO you who taste the bitterness of sorrow,
- يا مليح الدلال رفقا بصب
- يا من حنيني إليه
- يا نائما أرقنيYa Na'iman Arqani
- يبعث منه الندى في المحول
- يجيلون عن ليل بهيم ظنونهمThey Ask About a Hasty Night of Their Suspicions
