إِمّا تَرَيني أَمام القَوم مُتَّبَعا

فَقَد أُرى في وَراء اللَّيل أتَّبع

Either you see me following the people

Or I am seen behind the night following

يَوما أُبيحُ فَلا أُرعِي عَلى نَشَب

وَأَستَبيح فَلا أُبقي وَلا أَدع

A day comes when passions are unleashed

And I transgress - leaving nothing behind

لا تَسأَلي القَوم عَن حىّ صحِبتُهم

ماذا صَنَعتُ وَماذا أَهله صَنَعوا

Do not ask the people about the life of their companion -
