إذا ما الفكرُ وَلّدَ حُسنَ لفظ
وأدّاه الضَّميرُ إلى العيان
When thought begets beauty of expression,
And the inward mind brings it into view,
ووشّاه فَنَمنَمَه مُسَدٍ
فصيحٌ في المقال بلا لسان
And a weaver adorns it, then patterns it—
Eloquent in discourse, though tongueless—
رأيتَ حُلى البيان مُنَشَّراتٍ
تَجَلّى بينها صُوَرُ المَعاني
You behold the ornaments of eloquence spread out,
Among them the forms of meanings shine forth.
