وَحاكِمٍ في القُلوب

أَحوى أَغَنَّ رَبيبِ

Ruling in hearts

Sheltering the most melodious beloved

مقدَّر من قَضيب

مركَّب في كَثيبِ

Ordained by fate

Set upon a dune

مُقارب مِن بَعيد

مُباعد مِن قَريبِ

Drawing near from afar

Withdrawing from near

مُستَقبَلاً بِقُلوب

مُشَيَّعا بِقُلوبِ

Greeted by hearts

Bidden farewell by hearts

تَراه عِند طُلوع

مِنهُ وَعِندَ غُروبِ

You see him at sunrise

And at sunset too

مُواجِها بِالتَفَدّي

مُستَودَعا في المَغيبِ

Confronting with sacrifice

Entrusted to the unseen

نَخالُ فيهِ قطوبا

وَما بِهِ من قطوبِ

We imagine extremes in him

Though no such extremes exist

لكِن بَوادِرُ زَهو

ما بَينَ حُسن وَطيبِ

Just glimpses of splendor

Of beauty and grace
