لا يشتكي آلهم من بالله فيه رجا
None who hope in God should complain of fate's blows.
مذ بدا المحبوب في وجنة

إلى الله أشكو محنة إثر محنة
To God I complain of affliction after affliction
تسامت بك الدنيا فأنت أميرها
The world has been honored by you, for you are its prince
دهر يزعزع ركن المجد والأدب
Time shakes the pillar of glory and literature
صدقتم لحظه لحظ الغزال
You believed for a moment the gaze of a gazelle
