1. Arise, leave the West, for the East has called you,
The King has entrusted his covenant to you.

2. O you shining star on the King's palace horizon,
Every other horizon is not a dwelling for you.

3. Abdulaziz has called upon you today as his trusted one,
None in the universe has he entrusted except you.

4. He saw you as wise, virtuous and perceptive,
Brave in battle and bold in speech.

5. Therefore he has entrusted you with his politics,
Nothing pleased his eyes but this and that.

6. He called you to water the gardens of foreign affairs,
From those seas that your Master filled first.

7. Good news has come to us by the wire, by his name,
As if its source were a shining full moon.

8. Congratulations my master, the good news has caused,
The hearts of your loved ones to flutter and awaken.

9. Why should I congratulate you for what is below your worth?
The bride congratulates herself for attaining you.

10. Glory has clothed her when her position was ennobled,
God protects you and the angels guard you.

11. Her supreme majesty was elevated, so she became,
The highest of highs when she rose as a star and set as a moon.

12. My Master, today all people are elated,
They chant nothing but good tidings of you.

13. And every eye is fixed on your excellence,
Awaiting news from the oceans of generosity.

14. The horizon of politics has spread its wings,
So hurry the dawn of brightness.

15. Hardship has befallen the treasury of ease,
So remove its hardship into the ease of your right hand.

16. The age is nothing but a prisoner of your wisdom's obedience,
You order and command wherever you wish.

17. The politics of the universe lean wherever they tilt,
So observe every sound, be cautious.

18. Your past protects you, so be gentle with its state,
Some of the times have passed, so have mercy.

19. Its obedience reaches even the soul's hues,
And it comes seeking it saying "Here I am".

20. Your intelligence unravels problems, as kindness does,
To people's hearts, gently without harshness.

21. Your opinion in the future hits its target,
As if God revealed the destinies to you.

22. You have belittled every great one in our eyes,
Arab and non-Arab, had you not said "Leave it".

23. You harbored ambitions on the Austrian King's throne,
Which came to fruition by your Master's will.

24. You established affection between them, and how much,
Strife has been removed by your hearing.

25. My Master, O Rashid, son of the best young man,
Whose being you watered from the spring of contentment.

26. How can we count your virtues and limit them?
Do you see books enumerating your virtues?

27. Your flag is raised above this praise,
I imagined it as if rising to the sky, God forbid.

28. All knowledge, when its roots are planted,
Its meanings' waters have quenched from your sea of understanding.

29. Apart from you, everyone's nature He has created,
Glory to Him who created your refined nature.

30. And the sea of your generosity flows ceaselessly,
Your piety has made it encircle until it became a ring.

31. When the Omnipotent rested His comfort,
It said to Him: "Act and for God's sake act".

32. O Seeker from His Generosity, take what you hoped for
And leave what is beyond that.

33. He will give you more than you wished for, apologizing,
As if He were taking what He had already given.

34. O Rashid, with traits that guide me,
To praise you, whose sublimity has made me needless.

35. You were the bird of glory, and I was seeking it,
And my mind set up nets for hunting.

36. When I saw glories bewildered in you,
I knew the daughters of thought adore you.

37. I brought them out as ambassadors of your praise,
Flowing from their mihrabs, rivers of sublime traits.

38. From Beirut's horizon they flew to your presence,
Hoping for acceptance, if they attain you.

39. My Master, Beirut does not forget your deeds,
Does it forget, God forbid, after them?

40. Were it not for you, its aspiration would not be crowned with glory,
No, it would not blossom without you.

41. Nor would it sway the height of its walls in rapture,
Nor would its river flow except by your mercy.

42. Nor would it boast of glory you granted it,
Except by its ennoblement in the glory of your dwelling.

43. And its sands, if they counted their grains in number,
Would count the gifts that came to it from your grants.

44. It is the one, whenever distances stretch, you see,
Beauty of your memory rises upon its mouth.

45. We task the wind, if it passed you at dawn,
To kiss the soil at the doors of your sublimity.

46. Constant in the duty of prayer and good wishes,
Its minarets ask the Merciful to guard you.
