- أخي لن تنال العلم إلا بستةMy brother, you will not attain knowledge except through six:
- إذا أروت الأرض أسيافهم
- إذا اعتصم الوالي بإغلاق بابهIf the Governor Shuts His Door
- إذا أعطاك قتر حين يعطيIf He Gives You When He Gives
- إذا أعطى القليل فتى شريفWhen the noble youth gives little
- إذا الكرى ذر في أجفاننا سنة
- إذا أنت لم ينفعك علمك لم تجدIf knowledge does not benefit you, you will not find
- إذا كان شكري نعمة الله نعمة
- إذا كنت في بلدة جاهلاIf you were in an ignorant town
- إذا ما ازددت في عمري صعودا

- اسأل العرف إن سألت كريما

- اصدق حديثك إن فيThe Truest of Your Sayings
- اصدق حديثك إن في الصدI speak the truth in what I say
- اصطبح كأس شرابGood morning cup of drink
- أظهروا للناس نسكا

- أغار إذا دنت من فيك كأسI gaze with jealous eyes when cups draw near your lips

- تعز بحسن الصبر عن كل هالكBeautified by Patience Over Every Affliction
- تعصي الإله وأنت تظهر حبهDisobeying God While Demonstrating His Love
- تكثر من الإخوان ما اسطعت إنهمBrothers Abound When Your Light Shines
- تلذذت في الدنيا بكل طريفةEnjoyed Life in Every Way
- تلقى الفتى يلقى أخاه وخدنهThe Young Man Meets His Brother and His Cheek
- تمتع بمالك قبل الممات
- تنكب بنيات الطريق وجورهاCrossing the Structures of the Road and its Injustice
- حتى تبدى الصبح يتلو الدجى
- حدثت باليأس عنك النفس فانصرفتI have despaired of you and turned away
- حررت ما يبقى من العمرI freed what remains of life

- ذممتك أولا حتى إذا ما
- رأيت صلاح المرء يصلح أهله
- رجعت على السفيه بفضل حلم
- ركبوا المراكب واغتدواEmbark the ships and set forth
- زينت بيتك جاهدا وشحته
- سأترك هذا الباب مادام إذنه

- علام يشقى الحريص في طلب الرزق
- عمرك قد أفنيته تحتميYou have squandered your life taking shelter
- غنى النفس يغنيها إذا كنت قانعاThe Soul Sings when you are Content
- فاجاك من وفد المشيب نذير
- فإن تك حمى الغب شفك وردها
- فإن يكن المشيب طرا عليناIf old age descends upon us
- فكرت في المال وفي جمعهI thought about money and collecting it
- فلا تجزع وإن أعسرت يوما
- فلا تهجر أخاك بغير ذنب فإنDo not abandon your brother without fault, for
- فلو كان يستغني عن الشكر ماجدIf Majed Could Do Without Thanks
- فما أهل الحياة لنا بأهلMy Friends Are Not Like My Family

- قائد الغفلة الأملThe Leader of Hopeless Ignorance
- قد قلت لما قال لي قائلWhen someone said to me, “Hippocrates has reached his grave”

- قدم لنفسك توبة مرجوة
- قطع الدهر بأسباب العللTime has cut off the causes of infirmities
- قل لهارون إن حللتSay to Haroun, If You Became Permissible

- لا تتبع الدنيا وأيامهاDo not follow the world and its days
- لا تحسدن أخاك وارعDo Not Envy Your Pious Brother
- لا تحمدن أخا حرص على سعةDo not praise a greedy brother with abundant wealth
- لا تسألن المرء عما عندهDo Not Ask a Man What is With Him
- لا تسه عن أدب الصغيرDo Not Belittle the Manners of the Young
- لا تشعرن قلبك حب الغنى
- لا تطل الحزن على فائتDo not prolong sorrow for what is past
- لا تطلبن أثرا بعين
- لا تلتمس من مساوي الناس ما سترواDo Not Seek from People's Faults What They Have Concealed
- لا تلح شيبي وما شاهدت من كبري
- لا يحسن النسك والشبابYouth and Asceticism Do Not Mix
- لا يغلبنك غالب الحرصDo Not Let Greed Overcome You
- لا ينفع الجد والتشمير والحذرIt Does Not Benefit to Strive, Roll up Your Sleeves, and Be Cautious
- لبست صروف الدهر كهلا وناشئا
- لدوا للموت وابنوا للخراب
- لست ممن يماذق الصاحب الودد
- لعمرك ما بالعقل يكتسب الغنىNo matter how long you live, wealth is not gained by intellect

- لعمري لئن غال صرف الزمان
- لقد رأيت الصغير من عمل الخيرI saw the little one doing good

- مكرم الدنيا مهان
- من أطلق الطرف اجتنى شهوة
- من ظن بالله خيرا جاد مبتدئاHe Who Thinks Well of God Will Begin Generously
- من كان ذا مال كثير ولمMy Friend Who Has Much Money and Did Not
- من يشتري قبة في الخلد عاليةWho will buy a dome in eternity, lofty
- مني السلام على الدنيا وبهجتهاMy peace be upon the world and its joys
- هاك الدليل لمن أرادWealth that endures without money
- هواك ولا تكذب عليك أميرYour Hawaka Walla Takthib Alayka Amir
- هي الدنيا فلا يغررك منهاLife's Pleasures Are Deceitful
- هي الدنيا وزخرفهاIt is the life and its embellishments
- وإذا مرضت من الذنوب فداوها
- وذي ثقة تبدل حين أثرىAnd one I trusted changed when fortune smiled
- وذي حيلة في الشيب ظل يحوطهAnd one who had a trick for gray hair kept applying
- وراغب في العلوم مجتهد
- وعائب عابني بشيبA Faultfinder Found Fault With My Gray Hair
- وغادروك بلا أصل ولا طرفThey left you without origin or end
- وفق الله عاقلا قدر العيشGod Guide the Wise to Value Life
- وقالوا ادخر ما حزته وجمعتهThey said, "Save what you have earned and collected
- وكم من مريض نعاه الطبيبHow many a patient the doctor has given up on
- وكنت أخي أيام عودك يابس
- ولفظك حين تلفظ في جميعYour Life is in Your Hands
- ولم أر مثل الفقر أوضع للفتىI have not seen poverty debase a man like fortune uplift a fool
- ولو أن دار الشيب قرت بصاحبAnd if old age's home settled next to its neighbor
- وما صاحب السبعين والعشر بعدهاSeventy Plus Ten and What Comes After
- وما يبلغ الإنعام في النفع غاية
- ومازلت أسمع أن النفوس
- ومنتصح يكرر ذكر نشوىThe Lover Repeats the Mention of Enjoyment
- يا أيها الطالب من مثلهOh seeker from the like of him
- يا أيها الظالم في فعلهO you who is unjust in his deed
- يا أيها المتعب بزل الجمال
- يا خاضب الشيب الذيO dyer of the gray hair that

- يا عامر الدنيا على شيبهYa Aamir Ad-Dunya 'Ala Shaybihi
- يا من ترفع للدنيا وزينتها
- يا ناظرا يرنو بعيني راقد
- يا نفس خوضي بحار العلم أو غوصيYa nafs khudhi bihar al-'ilm aw ghawsī
- يبكي على ميت ويغفل نفسهHe weeps for a corpse, oblivious of himself
- يحب الفتى طول البقاء وإنهThe young man loves longevity, yet he
- يشيب الناس في زمن طويلPeople grow old over a long time
- يقطع كف القاذف المفتريHands of Slander
- يقول أنا الكبير فبجلونيThe elder says: I am great, so revere me!
- يمثل ذو اللب في نفسه
- يهوى البقاء وإن مد البقاء لهHe yearns for eternity, even if eternity extends for him
