  1. هِيَ الدُنيا وَزُخرُفُها

    وَلَكِن ما مَصائِرُها

    It is the life and its embellishments,

    Yet what will be the fate of them?

  2. لَئِن غَرَّت منابِرُها

    فَقَد وَعَظَت مَقابِرُها

    If its pulpits have deceived,

    Its graves have given good counsel.

  3. وَإِن غَشَّت مَوارِدُها

    فَقَد نَصَحَت مَصادِرُها

    And if its springs have been perfidious,

    Its sources have been sincere.
