لَعَمري لَئِن غالَ صَرفُ الزَما
نِ نَشوى لَقَد غالَ نَفساً حَبيبَه
By my life, if time’s vicissitudes have carried off
my youthful rapture, they have indeed carried off a beloved soul.
وَلَكِنَّ عِلمي بِما في الثَوا
بِ عِندَ المُصيبَةِ يُنسي المُصيبَه
Yet they taught me, through the recompense held in store
when calamity strikes, what makes the calamity forgotten.
