1. تَصَوَّفَ فَاِزدَهى بِالصوفِ جَهلاً

    وَبَعضُ الناسِ يَلبَسُهُ مَجانَه

    He wore Sufi garb, foolishly feigning piety,

    While some men don it hypocritically.

  2. يُريكَ مَهانَةً وَيُجِنُّ كِبراً

    وَلَيسَ الكِبرُ مِن شَكلِ المَهانَه

    They show humility yet nurse arrogance;

    True arrogance is not in humble semblance.

  3. تَصَنَّع كَي يُقالَ لَهُ أَمينٌ

    وَما مَعنى التَصَنُّعِ لِلأَمانَه

    He pretended integrity to be called “Trustworthy,”

    Yet why pretend if one holds trust sincerely?

  4. وَلَم يُرِدِ الإِلَهَ بِهِ وَلَكِن

    أَرادَ بِهِ الطَريقَ إِلى الخِيانَه

    God willed it not, but he willed the path

    To betrayal, wearing faith like a mask.
