يا نَفسُ خوضي بِحارَ العِلمِ أَو غوصي

فَالناسُ ما بَينَ مَعمومٍ وَمَخصوصِ

O soul, plunge into the sea of knowledge, or dive deep,

For people are of two kinds: learned or unlearned.

لا شَيءَ في هَذِهِ الدُنيا يُحاطُ بِهِ

إِلّا إِحاطَةَ مَنقوصٍ بِمَنقوصِ

In this world nothing can fully be comprehended

Except by a deficient being in a deficient way.
