من ناشد لي بأرض الري سكانها
I called to those who dwell in the land of irrigation
يا دهر حتى أنت ملت عمادا
O fate, even you have grown weary of pillars
يا جامعا بين شمل العلم والعمل
O you who brings together knowledge and action
يا ناعي الباقر هيجت لي
O mourner of al-Baqir, you have kindled in me
طالعت نعشك والقرين الفرقد
I saw your coffin and the two grave diggers
سلفا كلفتني شغفا
You burdened me with passion beforehand
سفه وقوفك بين تلك الأرسم
Your standing still among those illustrations
هنيئا فقد نارت لنا أنجم السعد
Good tidings, for the stars of fortune have shone upon us,
شكوت لسيدي مقام أرض
I complained to my lord of a land
مصاب طبق السبق الشدادا
Struck with grief, sorrow and hope from Mudar lineage,
ترسمت بعد المستقلين أربعا
After the demise of the chosen ones, four
عبد الحسين لمشكور الفعال لنا
Abdul Hussein, for his deeds we are grateful
حي المنازل بالدموع الذرف
The homes shed tears of grief
أكواب زهر قد تنظم
Cups of flowers arranged
إلى من وطت هام السماكين رجلاه
To the one whose feet trod the highest heavens
ربوع الجامعين استوقفيني
The university quarters detained me
ولا يدانيك في حكم وفي حكم
None can match you in wisdom and judgment,
إلى كم ترينا صروف الزمن
How long do you see the turns of time
أنيخت لهم عند الطفوف ركاب
I hurried them at dawn when the riders embarked
ينهى مآثرك الكريمة من يرى
Your noble deeds forbid whoever sees
أقيموا على العذل أو فارجعوا
Stand firm in virtue, or else go back,
لله در نظام عبد الباقي
For God, the order of Abd al-Bāqī
يا رابكا تطوي المهامه عيسه
O Raab, who crosses the distant lands
ومولعين بحرماني وصالهم
They are passionate for depriving me of union with them,
أبا المهدي لو أنصفت عبدا
O Abul Mahdi, if you judged a slave justly
لما نصبت شركا يا طبية الوادي
When you set up a partner, O healer of the valley
صوبت وصعدت النظرا
إن الذي سمك العلى وبنى على
تمسكت بالتقوى لدى كل مطلب
شكوت لسيدي مقام أرض
يا قلبي كم تهوى ذعرا
متى يا أبا المهدي تغبق ما غبق
كأن الرزايا تجس الخلايا
صبوت إلى الفيحا ونشر خزاماها
