1. O you who brings together knowledge and action
The days have turned against us out of stinginess

2. And time has made drinking your love pleasant
So being drunk on you has become a celebration

3. Your era was lost in misguidance though
Your virtues in the best of times are its adornment

4. Through you, time is spring in its meadows
For you are none other than the sun in Aries

5. Glory singled you out above all people
And in their eyes, you are the exemplar of men

6. People come to you seeking guidance and bounty
You see no boredom or emptiness from them

7. So you turn away from your overflowing basin
With purpose between the roses of knowledge and wisdom

8. You wore the robe of rejoice of every knowledge
While others were clothed in the rags of ignorance

9. The oceans’ pearls did not distract you
From diving in them, filtering the carrier of sands

10. You don’t stick to esotericism in your vision
Except to obtain from your view a balanced perspective

11. You don’t explain the complex
Except to clarify the ambiguous whole

12. Whenever the Merciful grants you blessings
You extend to Him a hand praying

13. Minds flock to you as their source
And are awed into silence by your overflowing rain

14. May God increase the favors upon you
In a state that changed the aspects of power

15. In a state whose rule is like David’s
Protecting it from the whims of the vulgar and lowly

16. Until He unleashed from His abundance
Honor that adorned it with splendid attire

17. In it the Caliphate blossomed into a smile
Of joy and happiness in continuity

18. He brought virtue to its peak until it yielded to him
While people were busy seeking the sublime

19. When the weak cry out to him, he tames them
With palms that gently caress and console

20. So time walks happily at its leisure
Like victory, the pace of a caring, swift boy

21. How many false claimants oppose him
Yet God renders vain the claims of every pretender

22. He forbade him with clemency, so arrogance grew in him
Save for the striking of a white hand or a withering palm

23. So he triumphed with victory as his guide
Against armies who use craftiness in war

24. Against a troop whose banners
Were cast down like the darkness of night

25. It appeared so its prey shuddered in fright
A terror that shook the hearts of the anxious

26. It waged war on them, so they were uneasy in their dwellings
Except the dew at dawn or the sound of turtledoves

27. It scattered their crowds as they stood tall
Severing joints and adding to disabilities

28. They perished in the flash of the sword aflame
Like moths, their lives extinguished by the blaze

29. Whenever the fire of war flares
He strives without fatigue or frustration

30. If examined, you would not find
Except the blood of sincerity to quench its thirst

31. Live in the shade of the blessing of his friendship
An outpouring that lasts like a lasting shade

32. Why do some apologize for their misguidance
When the path of truth is clear to seekers

33. Its proofs have preceded whoever puts them forth
And truth revolves wherever Ali revolves

34. Who can match Ali wherever matters become obscured
By the haze of judgment and dispute flares

35. When the tumults of time erupted
And the earth quaked from the tremors

36. Orator of a people, when the call was raised
Sparks burst forth in him like the zeal of warriors

37. In him the spring of silence burst open with wisdom
And deficiency spilled into the people

38. Deceiving them that he possessed judgment
Though he is not the trustee of Muslim affairs

39. He sacrificed the ring of authority in vain
Ignorant in comprehending the secret of existence

40. He improperly adorned himself with it in ignorance
Can a curved one wear the collar of a man?

41. He asked the bees for what they harvest, so he harvested
A sting while you reap only honey from them

42. If only the hands that extended their fingers
To you, may God paralyze them

43. Reached their hopes in all they proposed
While none but you is hoped for

44. And beseeched you to pardon their crimes
Until you pardoned, which is the utmost hope

45. Pardoning was not enough until you further graced them
From your palm’s pouring like pouring rain

46. Do not think it dyed their expressions
Rather it is a sign of redness of shame

47. And unending pardon may lead to corruption
So mix, my sacrifice, the severity of earnestness with jest

48. And address the hypocrisy in their consciences
With a hint from you that exposes latent diseases

49. And rebuke with your anger the noses that defied
You out of ignorance, infatuated with error
