- العقل في الوابور حارThe mind stands bewildered before the steamship;
- إنتمائي لكم بصفو صفاتيMy belonging to you, with the purity of my character,
- أو ميض برق لاح أم مصباحIs it a flash of lightning that appeared, or a lamp?
- أيا خليلي دعاO my two friends, leave aside

- سعادتنا بإحراز المعاليOur happiness lies in attaining lofty honors.
- سيد عزمه أحد من السيفA lord whose resolve is sharper than the sword,
- شادى المسرة قد شداThe singer of joy has sung,
- طسن له في المجد فضل إمارهTusun has the distinction of princely rank in glory;
- عين الحياة بهجةAyn al-Hayat is a delight;
- غادة تسلب العقول ولا بدA maiden who steals minds—and no wonder:
- فأثمار التهاني دانياتSo the fruits of congratulations are within reach
- فاطمة ضياؤهاFatima—her radiance
- قد أنعم الله على مصر ومنGod has indeed blessed Egypt and bestowed His favor,
- لا زلت تسمو في الفخار وتعظمMay you ever rise in glory and grow great.
- لحسين باشا من صفا الأوقاتHussein Pasha has, from the serenity of the hours,
- لقد شاد الخديوي مهرجاناThe Khedive has indeed established a festival,
- لقد عزت منازلناIndeed, our dwellings have grown mighty;
- لله أفراح زهتHow splendid the joys that have blossomed,
- لله عقد ساميات سرورهHow wondrous a marriage-bond, its joys so lofty!
- لله منك بشائرGod's omens are with you,

- ولما جلا أفراح مصر عزيزهاAnd when Egypt's beloved unveiled her joys,
- يا أهل فرانسة الغراO people of resplendent France,
- يا حزبنا قم بنا نسودO our band, rise with us, that we may rule.
- يا صاح حب الوطنO friend, love of the homeland
- يا مصر أنت أرض كل معجزهO Egypt, you are the land of every miracle.
