From al-ʿAqīq and remembrance of Dhī Salam
comes the eye's eloquence as it begins to weep blood.

And through the dear folk of the dunes, purity was perfected, and there appeared
the body's disintegration from suffering and flame.

My sound body grew gravely afflicted from excessive running,
and the tears released from my eye became an unbroken stream.

حتىuntil لضعفيbecause of my weakness رثىfelt pity لليfor me (apparently لي) كلُّeveryone منwho عذلاreproached
My story spread among all the people,
until everyone who reproached me pitied me for my weakness.

كماjust as يسلسلُflows in a chain عنهاfrom them القَطرُthe rain إذwhen هَملاpoured freely
The clouds transmit their account on my eye's authority,
as rain streams from them in chains when it pours.

And leave the remnant of life that he has spared
with him; heed no rebuke from one deemed upright.

For that man is a reproacher, notorious for deceit;
his words are rejected falsehood and have found no acceptance.
وقفتُI devoted حُبيmy love عليهto him لاnot يُجاوزهgoes beyond him

I have devoted my love to him; it never goes beyond him.
And such is the way of a lover perfected in love.
