Is it a flash of lightning that appeared, or a lamp?

Or has dawn shone from his radiant face?

Or is a blossom's mouth smiling with joy?

Or have the goblets gone round amid congratulations?

Or have we been gladdened with good tidings and hopes

by wedding reports, vouched for by their tellers?

    فصبا إليها الصبُّ وهي فِصاحُ

    And the nightingales of joy have sung with yearning;

so the lovesick lover was drawn to them, eloquent as they are.

Wisdom's lovers sought her; so her Husayn

sought high honors—is there any blame on him?

The fountain of life is familiar to him; so his life

is verdant, and the light of his brow is radiant.

He is perfect in his qualities; rare is his equal.

Winning glory is his embroidery and his sash.

His joys exulted, so I said in a chronogram:

    Through Husayn Pasha, joys rejoice.
