لحسين باشا من صَفا الأوقاتِ

حظٌ بهيُّ جوهريُّ الذاتِ

حظٌ بهيُّ جوهريُّ الذاتِ

Hussein Pasha has, from the serenity of the hours,

For Hussein Pasha are the finest days

A splendid share, jewel-like in its essence.

Of essence pure, the jewel of his traits

ومواهبٌ حُسنتْ ومنها ناهب

ومواهبٌ حُسنتْ ومنها ناهب

أوفى نصيب الأنس واللذاتِ

أوفى نصيب الأنس واللذاتِ

And lovely gifts, from which he seizes

Endowed with gifts refined, a conqueror

The fullest share of companionship and pleasures.

Of fortune’s sweetest joys and pleasures great

خَطبتْ له العليا كريمةُ عمِّه

خَطبتْ له العليا كريمةُ عمِّه

وهي الفريدةُ في كمال صفاتِ

وهي الفريدةُ في كمال صفاتِ

His uncle’s noble daughter sought lofty honor for him,

For him his noble uncle’s precious kin

And she is peerless in the perfection of her qualities.

Did speak, perfect in virtues delicate

حيَّتْ فأحيتْ أنسَه مذ أرخوا

حيَّتْ فأحيتْ أنسَه مذ أرخوا

وصلٌ فيا بُشراىَ عينُ حَياةِ

وصلٌ فيا بُشراىَ عينُ حَياةِ

She greeted him and so revived his joy, when they recorded the date:

Revived his spirit when the bond was tied

A union—oh, my joy!—a spring of life.

Good tidings, eyes of life illuminate!
