جميعُ الأرض فيها طيبُ عيشٍ

ولذاتٍ وروضاتٍ أنيقه

Throughout the earth there is pleasant living,

All the earth has in it a goodly life,

And delights and elegant gardens;

With pleasures and gardens elegant,

وهذا كله في غيرِ مصر

وهذا كله في غيرِ مصر

مجازيَ وفي مصرَ حقيقه

مجازيَ وفي مصرَ حقيقه

And all this, outside Egypt,

And all this in lands other than Egypt

Is figurative, while in Egypt it is real.

Is fancied, while in Egypt ‘tis verity.
