شادى المسرَّةِ قد شدا

وأجادَ حُسنَ الابتدا

The singer of joy has sung,

Shady rejoiced and excelled

And fashioned a beautiful beginning.

In starting well and being eloquent

والبشرُ أعلن مُنشدا

والبشرُ أعلن مُنشدا

شورى تُصادف مولدا

شورى تُصادف مولدا

And gladness proclaimed in song:

And people proclaimed him a singer

A consultative council coincides with a birthday.

Of a council that coincides with a birth

بأبي الفدا شمسِ الهدى

بأبي الفدا شمسِ الهدى

كنزِ العطا بحرِ الندا

كنزِ العطا بحرِ الندا

With Abu al-Fida, the sun of guidance,

The treasure of giving, the sea of generosity,

الدهرُ جاد وأسعدا

وأعزّ مصرَ وأيّدا

يا حسنَ عيدٍ وافتتاحْ

شُورى بها الأصلاحُ لاحْ

How lovely a festival and an inauguration!

O good holiday and inauguration

A council through which reform has shone forth,

A council in which reform appears

عنوانُ أنواعِ الفلاح

عنوانُ أنواعِ الفلاح

في مِصرَ صار مخَّلدا

في مِصرَ صار مخَّلدا

An emblem of every kind of success,

A title of types of success

Has become immortal in Egypt.

In Egypt it became immortalized

بأبي الفدا شمس الهدى

بأبي الفدا شمس الهدى

كنز العطا بحر الندا

كنز العطا بحر الندا

عن مصرَ ما كان احتجبْ

في شهره السامي بَدا

What had been hidden from Egypt

Of Egypt what had been veiled

Appeared in his exalted month.

In its sublime month appeared

قمرٌ أنار بمصره

قمرٌ أنار بمصره

وسمتْ طلائعٌ نصره

وسمتْ طلائعٌ نصره

A moon shone in his Egypt,

A moon that illuminated its Egypt

And the vanguards of his victory rose high,

And its preludes of victory arose

وزهتْ مطالعُ عصره

وزهتْ مطالعُ عصره

ببديعِ ما قد جددا

ببديعِ ما قد جددا

And the dawns of his age shone bright,

And horizons of its era beamed

Through the marvel of what he has renewed.

With the wonderful thing it renewed

من مثله أحيا الوطن

من مثله أحيا الوطن

وأجادَ أعلى ما يظن

وأجادَ أعلى ما يظن

Who like him has revived the homeland,

One like him revived the homeland

And accomplished the highest one could imagine?

And excelled in the highest expectations

وبه ارتقى أهلُ الفِطن

وبه ارتقى أهلُ الفِطن

وسَما الجهادِ تعضَّدا

وسَما الجهادِ تعضَّدا

And through him, people of discernment rose,

And through him the discerning rose

And endeavor soared, gaining strength.

And the struggle was strengthened

من مِثلنا بين الدولْ

من مِثلنا بين الدولْ

وهلالُ نظم الملكِ هَلْ

وهلالُ نظم الملكِ هَلْ

Who is like us among the nations?

One like us among the nations

And the crescent of the realm's order has risen

And the crescent of the system of the king, has

في المجلسِ الأعلى الأجلْ

في المجلسِ الأعلى الأجلْ

إذْ بالنظامِ تقلدا

إذْ بالنظامِ تقلدا

In the supreme, most august council,

In the supreme, most dignified council

When it was adorned with order.

When endowed with the system

الدهرُ صافي والزمانْ

الدهرُ صافي والزمانْ

ووفى بما وعدَ الأوانْ

ووفى بما وعدَ الأوانْ

The age and time are serene;

Time is clear and the era

And the appointed time has fulfilled its promise.

Fulfilled what the time promised

والسعدُّ عنا تَرجمانْ

والسعدُّ عنا تَرجمانْ

هَنَّا العزيزَ الأمجدا

هَنَّا العزيزَ الأمجدا

And good fortune is our spokesman;

And good fortune is our translator

It congratulated the mighty, most glorious one.

Does not cease to achieve in purpose

لا زالَ يبلغُ في المرامْ

لا زالَ يبلغُ في المرامْ

مجداً أثيلاً لا يُسام

مجداً أثيلاً لا يُسام

May he ever attain, in his quest,

An eternal glory that cannot be rivaled

A deep-rooted glory beyond price,

A great holiday every year

عيداً جليلا كلِّ عام

عيداً جليلا كلِّ عام

أبداً يعودُ كما بدا

أبداً يعودُ كما بدا

A splendid festival every year,

That always comes back as it began

Returning forever as it first appeared.

Convey to him, O Lord of lords

بلّغْهُ يا ربَّ العبادْ

بلّغْهُ يا ربَّ العبادْ

وبنيهِ أربابَ الرشادْ

وبنيهِ أربابَ الرشادْ

Bring him, O Lord of humankind,

And his children, the masters of guidance

And his sons, masters of sound judgment,

The heights of happiness and purpose

أوجَ السعادةِ والمراد

أوجَ السعادةِ والمراد

في ظله طول المدا

في ظله طول المدا

To the summit of happiness and all they seek,

In his shadow the length of permanence

Beneath his shade for all time.

And make him for the upright religion

واجعلْه للدين القويمْ

واجعلْه للدين القويمْ

ركناً مشيداً يَستديمْ

ركناً مشيداً يَستديمْ

And make him, for the upright faith,

A standing pillar that persists

A firmly built pillar that endures.

And continue through him the general benefit

وأدمْ به النفعَ العميمْ

وأدمْ به النفعَ العميمْ

واحفظْ بقاهُ سَرْمَداً

واحفظْ بقاهُ سَرْمَداً

And sustain through him all-embracing benefit,

And protect his remaining forever

And preserve his life forever.
