- أتتنا العذارى الغيد في حلل النهىThe maidens came to us, robed in modesty's garb

- إذا استشرفت عيانك جانب تلعة

- إذا انحاز عنك الغوث واحتفل العداIf help withdrew from you and the enemy rejoiced

- أراجعة تلك الليالي كعهدهاReviewing Those Nights As They Were
- أسأت إلى نفسي أريد لها نفعاI hurt myself, I want what benefits it

- أغر أروع تلهينا وقائعهOur Loveliest Fields Which Witnessed It
- أفدي الذي قال وفي كفهI would lay down my life for the one who said, while cupping his hand:
- اقرا السلام على الأمير وقل لهGreetings to the Prince
- أقول لسار في شمال وراقد
- ألا يا أيها الملك المعلىAla Ya Ayyuha Almalik Al'ali
- التصابي بلا شباب محال
- الدهر مستعجل يخبTime is in a hurry
- ألم تر أنواء الربيع كأنماHaven't You Seen the Spring Breezes
- الهجر أروح من وصل على حذر
- أنا الولي الذي إذا كشفت
- أنثر على خدي من وردكScatter on My Cheek From Your Roses
- أنجز الدهر في فنائك عهديTime Has Fulfilled My Covenant in Your Courtyards
- أوما انثنيت عن الوداع بلوعةO my soul, weep not from parting's sadness
- بالله فض العقيق عن بردBy Allah Break the Agate from the Cold
- بدأت فأسلفت التفضل والبرا
- بعزم يراه السيف أولى بغمدهWith Determination the Sword Sees its Sheath as Preferable
- بعيني ما يخفي الوزير وما يبدي
- بقيت بقاء الدهر يا كهف أهلهRemaining Forever, O Cave of its People
- بك الدهر يندى ظله ويطيب
- تبيت تحلج طول الليل منكمشاSleepless, you meditate all night long
- ترحلت عن بغداد أطيب منزل
- تركنا أرض مصر لكل فدم
- تعاليت عن قدر المدائح صاعداAscending Beyond the Reach of Praise
- تنبه الغيث بعد النوم فاندفقاAwakened by rain after slumber, they poured forth

- فتى يستمد البدر من فضل نورهA Youth Drawing the Moon's Radiance
- قد برح الشوق بمشتاقكLonging has left with your lover
- قد صفا الجو واستحال نسيماThe breeze turned clean and gentle
- قصير الثياب فاحش عند بيته
- قل للأمير الذي فخر الزمان بهSay to the prince whom the pride of the age is through him
- قل للزمان الذي أبدى عجائبهSay to the era that displayed its wonders
- قوم إذا خرأوا خلوه وانصرفوا
- كريم يرى أن الرجاء مواعد
- لا وجفون يغضها العذلNo Lid for Eyes Downcast by Sorrow
- لحاظك أقدار وكفك مزنةYour Lips Are Fate and Your Palm is Scales

- لقيت أبا يحيى عشية جئتهI met Abu Yahya in the evening when I came to him

- هذا أبو مضر كفتنا كفهThis is Abu Mudar whose hand protected us
- هذا الهلال شبيهه في حسنهThis Crescent Is Similar in its Beauty
- هذي المكارم والعلياء تفتخرNobleness and Loftiness to Boast
- هنأتنا بك الليالي وسرتThe nights congratulated us for you, and
- وإذا خفت من خليل ملالاIf I Feared My Friend's Boredom
- وإذا ما الصديق عنك تولى
- وإذا ما عددت أيام عمريOver the hill of my life, when I count my days
- وأرى المديح إذا عداك نقيصةI praise you
- وأغن من أربابه أرزى بهAnd I am richer than its masters, more content with it
- وتركي مواساة الأخلاءِ بالذيMy Friend's Consolation in Solitude
- وشيدت مجدي بين قومي فلم أقلI built my glory among my people, yet said naught
- وغنج عينك وما أودعتThe Darling's Eye and What it Contains
- وفارقت حتى ما أسر بمن دناAnd I Parted from Those I Used to Whisper To
- وقالوا اضطرب في الأرض فالرزق واسع
- وكفك إنها البحر الغرير
- وكنت تولى الله حفظك سيدي
- وكنت متى أشحذ بلفظك خاطري
- ولما تداعت للغروب شموسهمWhen Their Suns Set for Sunset
- ولو تراني وقد ظفرت بهIf You Could See Me Now That I Have Won Him Over
- وما أخشى قصورا عن مرامI do not fear falling short of my hopes,
- وما أقيم بدار لا أعز بها
- وما الشعر إلا ما استفز ممدحاPoetry is Nothing But What Provokes Praise
- وما بال هذا الدهر يطوي جوانحيWhy does time enfold my wings
- وما سلب الشمس الكسوف ضياءهاAnd the eclipse robbed not the sun of its brightness
- ومن حق من يمشي مع العور أن يرى
- ووفاك وفد الشكر من كل وجهةGratitude delegations come from all directions
- يا ليت عيني تحملت ألمكYa layta 'ayni tahammalat alamak
- يا من إذا نظر الزمانOh You Who When Time Looked
- يا نسيم الجنوب بالله بلغ
- يتملك الأحرار بالإيناس
- يقربن طلاب العلا من سمائهاStudents of knowledge approach its lofty heights
- يقولون لي فيك انقباض وإنما
- يهدي إلى العلماء من أنفاسهKnowledge From His Breath
