رفاهية الشهم اقتحام العظائم
The boldness of the generous is to dare great deeds
حبيب تراءى وهو يأبى لثامه
A beloved appeared though he refused his veil
سبا بالحسام العضب كل منازع
Glory with angry swords to all opponents
وصفراء لولا نفحها ومذاقها
Her pale yellow, were it not for its fragrance and taste
لا تصدق عليك عقد صداق
Do not believe the marriage contract on you
أؤمل لقياكم وإن شطت النوى
I hope to meet you, though fate is unkind,
قديم هواكم في الفؤاد قراره
Your love within my heart its home has made
وليلة الربوة الشماء معلمة
The night at Rawdah al-Shamaa is a guiding teacher
أبا المظفر أنت المجتبى لهدى
O Abu al-Muzaffar, you are the chosen one to guide
وهل ثم نفس لا تميل إلى الهوى
Is there a soul that does not incline to passion?
فيا ملكا لم يبق للدين غيره
O king, none remains for religion but him,
إلهي أجرني من شرور بني نوعي
My God, protect me from the evils of my own kind
مستنقذ القدس ثاره حبا منحا
The avenger of Jerusalem, his passion erupted in love
في مشرق المجد نجم الدين مطلعه
In the east where glory dawns, the star of faith arises
في باطن الغيب ما رلا تدرك الفكر
In the unseen inner realm, thought cannot attain,
سألتك يا وهاب بالآية الكبرى
I asked You, oh Bestower, by the greatest sign
قالوا نرى نفرا عند الملوك سموا
They said, "We see people high with kings though they
حاول مفازك قبل أن يتحولا
Try your best before things transform
أيا ملكا أفنى العداة حسامه
O king who destroys his enemies with his sword
يا زائرا جنبات الشام معتبرا
O traveler to the lands of al-Sham with purpose,
أبا الحسن استمع مقال فتى
O Abu al-Husain, listen to the words of a young man
يا منقذ القدس من أيدي جبابرة
O savior of Jerusalem from the hands of tyrants
خبرت بني عصري على البسط والقبض
I tested my contemporaries in prosperity and adversity,
أفاض الندى فوق الغنى للمسالم
The dew overflowed above wealth for Muslims,
هي العزائم لا بيض وخرصان
They are resolves, not eggs white and yellow,
تصاريف دهر أعربت لمن اهتدى
The turns of fate have affirmed those who are rightly guided,
الله أكبر أرض القدس قد صفرت
Allah is Greatest, the land of Jerusalem has turned yellow
أرى الراية الصفراء يريم اصطفاقها
كليني لكر الخيل يا أم مالك
العزم ينفذ ليس البيض والسمر
لقد أوسع الله الفتوح بعامنا
جلا منيرا مقامه سنى لهج
حمى المسجد الأقصى فطال مطهرا
كن عزيزا أو عز عما يعز
إذا جاءني يوما نعي أبي الوحش
يا ساهرا في اقتناء علم
فأبخس شيء حكمة عند جاهل
عجبا من أحبابنا وانقيادي
بذلت وقتا للطب كي لا
أقبل ذو دولة فقالوا
من لم يسل عنك فلا تسألن
