يا منقذ القدس من أيدي جبابرة

1. O savior of Jerusalem from the hands of tyrants
Who swore by the arm of the Lord it would fall to them

١. يا مُنقَذَ القُدسِ مِن أَيدي جَبابِرَةٍ
قَد أَقسَموا بِذِراعِ الرَبِّ تَدخُلُهُ

2. They lied in their description of their Lord
While the promise was true, certain in its fulfillment

٢. فَأَكذَبوا كِذبَهُم في وَصفِ رَبِّهِم
وَصَدَقَ الوَعدُ مَأموناً مُحَوَّلُهُ

3. Have you not seen the son of Ayyub who alone
Bore what defeats time and its people

٣. أَما رَأَيتَ اِبنَ أَيّوبَ اِستَقَلَّ بِما
يَعيي الزَمانُ وَأَهليهِ تَحَمَّلُهُ

4. The Franks raged and recoiled from his onslaught
So they summoned every terrified soul to oppose him

٤. هاجَ الفِرَنجُ وَقَد خاروا لِفَتكَتِهِ
فَاشستَنفَروا كُلَّ مَرهوبٍ تُغَلغِلُهُ

5. When Jerusalem was taken captive, they said how can we abandon it
While the Lord is in a grave there that represents Him

٥. لَمّا سَبى القُدسُ قالوا كَيفَ نَترُكُها
وَالرَبُّ في حَفرَةٍ مِنها تُمَثِّلُهُ

6. So how many kings for them split the seas rampaging
To defend the tomb while destiny betrayed them

٦. فَكَم مَليكٍ لَهُم شَقَّ البِحارَ سَرىً
لِيَنصُروا القَبرَ وَالأَقدارُ تَخذِلُهُ

7. And how many of their vagabonds met only ruin
At the mosques which received their wandering remains

٧. وَكَم تَرَحَّلَ مِنهُم فَيلَقٌ بِفَلاً
إِلى الخَوامِعِ أَلقاهُ تَرحَلُهُ

8. They cried for aid and discord tore them apart
They amassed wealth while zeal distributed it

٨. اِستَصرَخوا الأَهلَ وَالعَدوى تُمَزِّقُهُم
وَاِستَكثَروا المالَ وَالهَيجا تُنفِلُهُ

9. They are locusts, the flame of war destroys them
And whenever they attacked, numerous were their dead

٩. هُم الفَراشُ لَهيبُ الحَربِ تَصرَعُهُ
وَكُلَّما لَجَّ صَدماً جَلَّ مَقتَلُهُ

10. A sword in front of Palestine saw nations
Beyond the seas, its sharpening terrified them

١٠. سَيفٌ أَمامَ فِلَسطنٍ بَرى أُمَماً
خَلفَ البِحارِ لَقَد أَمهاهُ صَيقَلُهُ

How much they prepared and how their gathered forces failed

١١. كَم قَد أَعدوا وَكَم فَلَّ جَمعُهُم
مِن غَيرِ ضَربٍ وَلا طَعنٍ يُزَيِّلُهُ

12. Without a blow or stab to drive them away
But the name of Salah al-Din invoked in

١٢. وَإِنَّما اِسمُ صَلاحُ الدينِ يَذكُرُ في
جَيشِ العَدُوِّ فَيَسبيهِم تَخَيُّلُهُ
