1. Your love within my heart its home has made
How then without you can my soul live on?

2. Your beauty seen, though distance makes its light so fade
Can daybreak through our union shine at dawn?

3. You left me to such sorrow and dismay
A wingèd heart that fluttered, hope forlorn

4. To one so frail, what can life’s ruins say?
I seek refuge where you dwell, forlorn

5. In your decree, be it joy or sadness, I
Am like a drunk whom passion’s wine has worn

6. Sweet agony of longing fills the hours before the day
When pent-up sighs and tears are borne

7. By Him who raised our Prophet’s faith on high
Despite the sneers of fault-finders forsworn

8. His poetry sparked thoughts that dormant lie
In verse sublime, his genius like the morn

9. A willing king, complexities to clarify
Crossing meaning’s straits with reason well-adorned

10. God’s succor manifest, a boon whereby
Our lands in bounty and peace are reborn

11. An age where evil is nullified
And wicked aims are from ambition torn

12. Saladin, upholding faith, arose to smite
The necks of kings by his defiance shorn

13. Grinding blades in war, lightning swords alight,
To breast of foe as fiery sparks are borne

14. At the break of day the pagans take to flight
Kinsman of shadows, freeing Al-Quds in scorn

15. Love he gave. Peace bloomed, security in sight
Al-Quds ransomed, no harsh acts were borne

16. Broad grins on his face, joy he incited
Where despair had reigned, now hope is reborn

17. My proudest hour when want is requited
Man’s abjection lies in needs that press forlorn

18. No honor but in loyalty and love shown true
To one whose noble deeds are still outpoured

19. Vain gossip from those who boast but construe
Illusions, not truths, are foundations for

20. He who gifts should complete what he began
With grace from a Lord whose bounty is still in store

21. Although arrogance great gifts the giver may ban
One who gives with grace gives greater than before

22. To guide aright our faith strongly he ran
Its beacons lit, spreading near and far

23. The enemy host taken off guard
His voice resounds, presaging their gore

24. Pale faces part, their weapons forsworn
Lest you destroy them within their hold

25. Yusuf exiled them by might and scorn
Soon nothing of them would life still hold

26. What bold aims foiled by his miracles!
In matters complex solutions he bore

27. What tyrants whose might made your allies’ blood congeal
May your conquest reveal plots they have swore

28. Their forces in chaos, discord revealed
Routed by terror they cannot ignore

29. His banners of yellow are brightly peeled
Wherever he aims to desecrate and deplore

30. His sons all so noble, enlightened and steeled
As branches raised by ideals he bore

31. Among rulers the best, a paragon sealed
Accolades countless are his lifelong store

32. The faith that our age had obscured is revealed
By his wisdom, composure decorum bore

33. In his palace displaying such calm and appeal
Counsels profound are decisions he bore

34. Damascus, his graces evoke Yusuf’s zeal
His generosity and courage uphold

35. His splendor enhanced in glory's bright field
Ardor arose, radiance he did outpour

36. Adorned with praise fitting his valor revealed
His great deeds magnified all the more

37. His smile shone bright, worries were peeled
To a delighted man, perils bore

38. Dawn’s light removed all gloom once concealed
When darkness blanketed heavy before

39. Steeds of heroes raced, vying to yield
To a gallant unsaddled, whose needs were no chore

40. For highest ranks, with his mouth he appealed
To a bold youth, discerning what to him was in store

41. Standing firm, upholding both state church and field
By canon and sword, guarding all lands he swore

42. Reviving and securing, his face lit up and healed
As a refuge, but to foes, terror he bore

43. What kings made to boast of their forces to wield!
To the winds he turned their vaunts and lore

44. Misguided lands he called back to the field
Where peace became true, turmoil no more

45. Opener of Jerusalem, rise up to yield
True guidance, though bigots your wisdom ignore

46. Spill the blood of oppressors, from faith they did shield
Yet sins they commit are guilts they still wore

47. With traitors of covenants you wisely appealed
Exposing their treachery, shame they outpour

48. Their lands you made kneel, humbled and repealed
The tyrants conceded, revealing their poor

49. They pleaded with you like the final seal
This conquest made manifest evermore

50. Vanquished your foe, his villainy revealed
While your command remains as before

51. Like magic, emblazoned your glory concealed
From Andalus a minaret for

52. None in Syria or Iraq comprehesively wielded
A mastery of science and wisdom in store

53. Unable to fathom its form or tradition shielded
What wonders untold could his arts still explore!

54. When one alone is blessed with miracles wielded
None other can match what his capabilities bore
