- تمت لفرحات البنين وقدThe sons’ rejoicings were complete, and indeed
- تهنيكم السنة التي هلت كماMay the year that has dawned bring you joy, just as
- جاء الصيام فالف صوم مثلهThe fast has come; may a thousand fasts like it
- حيى الحيا ذات المقام العامرMay the rain salute her of the flourishing abode,
- رعى المولى مقاما دام يرقىMay the Lord safeguard a station ever rising,

- شهم من الأعراب قدA gallant man among the Bedouins—indeed,
- عبد الدعا مضرم الأحشاء ملتهبThe prayerful servant burns, his entrails ablaze.
- عيدوا التهاني للمعظم عيدواRenew congratulations to the exalted one—renew them!
- كفاك تجفو مطيلاEnough of your prolonged coldness,
- كفي البكايا كل مقلة باكCease weeping, every tearful eye!
- كم ذا أنوح وكم فوادي يخفقHow long must I lament, and how often must my heart throb?
- كم يا ابن خالاه اكتوتHow often, O cousin, have they been seared—
- كنتم تظنون إن بالتاريخYou thought that in history
- كيف يخفى عظم ما بي من ألمHow could the enormity of the pain within me be hidden,
- لا بد عن أبطال جورٍ في الورىThere is no avoiding the abolition of tyranny among humankind,
- لقد أكملت ما قد رمت منيI have indeed completed what you had desired of me;
- لك يا أبا موسى أبوح بصبوتيTo you, O Abu Musa, I speak openly of my yearning,
- للترك آداب تقضىRenunciation has rules of conduct to be observed:
- لله مشرق منزل ما زارهHow radiant a dwelling! No one has visited it
- لله من نكد الزمان وشرهFrom the hardship and evil of days
- لما استوت فلك الوداد بنا علىWhen the ark of affection came to rest with us upon
- لما تولى الملك سلطان الورىWhen the sovereign of humankind assumed the throne,
- لما عفا المولى وانعم بالرضىWhen the lord pardoned and bestowed his favor,
- لو لم تكونوا خير صحب اوثقHad you not been the finest companions—I trust
- ما خضبت ذات الجناح اناملاThe winged one did not dye her fingertips,
- مضناك انفق في سبيلك صبرهYour languishing lover has spent his patience for your sake,
- ملك الكنانة طاهرTahir ruled al-Kinanah,
- مولاي جيتك راغبا حسن الرضىMy lord, I have come to you seeking your gracious favor.
- مولاي عبدك قد رماه زمانهMy lord, time has struck your servant
- نثر الحبيب على زهرا نشرهThe beloved scattered flowers upon me; their fragrance
- نعيما نعيما دايما تجتدي بهBliss, bliss everlasting, through which you seek
- هن ابن آدم بالفردوس حيث قضىCongratulate the son of Adam on Paradise, for he lived
- واحبذا شوالنا وهلالهAnd how lovely our Shawwal and its crescent!
- وافت تجر الذيولاShe came, trailing her trains,
- وافى السرور وطاب ميقات الصفاJoy has arrived, and the appointed hour of serenity has grown sweet.
- واوحشتاه لا مجد سكن الثرىAlas, my desolation! No glory has settled in the dust.
- وزير العالم الصدر المفدىThe world's minister, the cherished grand vizier,
- يا ذا الخلال المفردهO you of peerless qualities
- يا طالبا حقيقة الانباءO seeker of the truth in reports,
- يا قدوة الكبراء يا ذا السيدO exemplar of the great, O master!
- يا نسيمات الصبا حيي الحماO little east-wind breezes, greet the sanctuary
