بادر ياذراف الدموع لتربةٍ

فيها استراح العابد المتثقّفُ

فيها استراح العابد المتثقّفُ

Hasten, O shedder of many tears, to a grave

Shed tears, O jar of tears, for a land

Where the learned worshipper has found rest.

In which the learned worshipper found rest.

واندب وقل لا حبذا الدهر الذي

واندب وقل لا حبذا الدهر الذي

بك ساءَنا يا مفرداً لا يُخلفُ

بك ساءَنا يا مفرداً لا يُخلفُ

And lament, and say: “Wretched is the age that

Lament and say: Alas for the time that was

Has grieved us over you, O peerless one who cannot be replaced!”

Evil for us, O lonely one with no successor.

اصرفت عمرك بالعفاف ونلت من

اصرفت عمرك بالعفاف ونلت من

مولاك أضعاف الجزا يا يوسفُ

مولاك أضعاف الجزا يا يوسفُ

You spent your life in chastity and received from

You spent your life in chastity and received

Your Lord manifold recompense, O Yusuf.

From your Lord manifold reward, O Joseph.

وتركت يا زكار ذكراً صالحاً

وتركت يا زكار ذكراً صالحاً

يُثنى ويحمد في الأنام ويوصفُ

يُثنى ويحمد في الأنام ويوصفُ

And you left, O Zakkar, a good name,

And you left, O Zakar, a righteous memory

Extolled and praised among humankind, and spoken of.

That is praised and lauded among people and described.

ولك الهنا اذ قد بلغت لغاية

ولك الهنا اذ قد بلغت لغاية

فيها سمعت نداء ربك يهتفُ

فيها سمعت نداء ربك يهتفُ

And bliss is yours, for you have reached the goal

For you is felicity, for you have attained the goal

Where you heard your Lord’s call ring out:

Where you heard your Lord's call shouting to you.

لج جنّةً قد أرخت وادخل إلى

لج جنّةً قد أرخت وادخل إلى

فردوس مجدي أيها المتعفّفُ

فردوس مجدي أيها المتعفّفُ

“Enter a garden”—I have recorded the date—“and enter into

For you a Garden spread wide, so enter

The paradise of My glory, O chaste one.”

My Paradise of Glory, O you who practiced self-restraint.
