- أسست بالتوحيد فاجتزت الرؤىFounded upon divine oneness, you surpassed the visions,
- أفارقهم مخافة أن يملواI leave them, fearing they might tire

- الله يعلم كم أحب وكم علىGod knows how much I love, and how much upon
- بيني وبينك لهفة ودروبBetween me and you lie yearning and roads,
- جنيت من وحشة الأوقات تسبيحيFrom the loneliness of the hours, I reaped my praise of God,
- حلق ولا يشغلك سوء كلامهمSoar, and do not let their spiteful words distract you.
- سر .. لا تقفBandage your wounds, for life is a contest of shifting fortunes.
- سيد الأزمان !Welcome back, master of the ages,
- شط المزار ، فأين أنت ، وأينهاThe meeting place has grown distant—so where are you, and where are they,
- شوقا إليك أخط لهفة خافقيLonging for you, I inscribe my beating heart's yearning
- صباحك مهجتي لما تتوقMy morning, for when you yearn
- عشقي الأحساء هل تدري لمه ؟Al-Ahsa is my love—do you know why?
- في الرمل حمىMy desert thirsts for your eyes, O Ghayda.
- قالت سأرحل قلت لست براحلةShe said, “I will leave.” I said, “You are not leaving.”

- كالمسك ذكراهم إذا ذكرواTheir memory is like musk when they are mentioned.
- كخافقي ساعة الأشواق ذا المطرLike my heart in the hour of longing is this rain;
- لا يدحر الحزن إلا ركعتا سحرNothing drives sorrow away but two units of prayer before dawn.
- ما أصبح الكون إلا تحت رحمتهThe universe has dawned only beneath His mercy.
- متعب قلبي فأرخي الهدباMy heart is weary, so lower your lashes.
- مطر وقلبك غيمة منسابةRain—and your heart is a drifting cloud.
- مهجتي شعر وقلبي عازفMy soul is poetry, and my heart a musician.
- نذير الهوى قلب يذوب صبابةA heart that melts like dew in love's alarm
- وإذا الصباح بدا وأشرق باسماAnd when morning appears and shines, smiling,
- ولم أر مثل ذكر الله عوناAnd I have seen no aid like the remembrance of God
- وما جاءت تعاتبني ولكنAnd she did not come to reproach me, but
- وما حيلة المشتاق لما تزوره ..And what recourse has the yearning lover when he is visited
- وما من شدة إلا وفيهاAnd there is no hardship but that within it
- وما منح الله الخليقة بهجةAnd God bestowed no joy upon creation
- ويجرح قلب الحر خذلان صاحبAnd a friend's abandonment wounds a noble man's heart,
- يارب صل على الذي شغف الورىO my Lord, send blessings upon him whom humankind loves deeply
- يارب لي إخوة في الشام ما برحواO Lord, I have brothers in the Levant who still
- يامن شكوت تعاسة وهموماO you who have lamented misery and worries,
- يقولون : في عينيك سر معتقWhere once my eyes did speak of mysteries,
- يقولون ماباحت بحبك مرةThey say she has never once confessed her love for you,
