وشجونيand my sorrows تتلظَّىblaze فيin القصيدهthe poem
وشجوني تتلظَّى في القصيده
My soul is poetry, and my heart a musician.
And my sorrows blaze within the poem.
اللياليthe nights لمdid not تدَعleave ليfor me خاطرًاa thought
الليالي لم تدَع لي خاطرًا
لمdid not أُلقِّنهI impart to it حكاياتيmy tales الفريدهunique
لم أُلقِّنه حكاياتي الفريده
The nights have left me no thought
to which I have not imparted my unique tales.
كلُّevery شيءٍthing باردٌcold حوليaround me سِوىexcept for
كلُّ شيءٍ باردٌ حولي سِوى
غربةٍan estrangement فيin الرُّوحِthe soul مازالتstill is عنيدهstubborn
غربةٍ في الرُّوحِ مازالت عنيده
Everything around me is cold, save
an estrangement in the soul that is still stubborn.
يرهقُwearies الجسمَthe body طموحٌan ambition سامقtowering
يرهقُ الجسمَ طموحٌ سامق
وحياةٌand a life لمdid not تعدcontinue to be فيهِwithin it جديدهnew
وحياةٌ لم تعد فيهِ جديده
The body is wearied by a towering ambition
and a life that is no longer new within it.
