- أم عيسى نسبة واحدةThe mother of Jesus has but one bond of kinship;
- أمة خلت يداها السنناA nation whose hands are empty of the sacred ways
- أمرها في الكون طرا يحكمIts command rules the whole universe
- إن خطمت الصعب قدت العالماIf you bridle the unruly beast, you lead the world,
- إن عالمكير عالي المنزلIndeed, Alamgir was lofty in station,
- أنت في الكون كروح مستسرYou are a concealed spirit in the universe
- أنت كالورد من الأرض بداYou are like the rose that sprang from the earth.
- إنما يبقى الحياة المقصدPurpose alone sustains life.
- إيه يا منكرا أحاديث عشقيGo on, O you who deny the tales of my love!
- أيها الجابي من الأسد الخراجO you who exact tribute from the lion,
- برهمي في بناريس علمA Brahmin in Benares, a luminary,
- تارك الآفل من قبل الخليلAl-Khalil long ago forsook what sets.
- جمل نفسك تربو بالعلفThe camel of your self grows on fodder,
- حديث الروحThe soul's discourse flows to souls,
- حرقة الإنسان من كور الأملHumanity's burning fervor comes from hope's furnace.
- ختم الله إليك الأمماGod brought the nations to their culmination in you.
- راهب الماضين أفلاط الحكيمThe monk of bygone ages, Plato the sage,
- رأيت الشيخ بالمصباح يسعىI saw the elder walking with a lamp;
- رحمة للفرد حجر الأمةThe community's bosom is mercy for the individual.
- سائل مثل قضاء مبرمA beggar, like an irrevocable decree,
- صاح ما المسلم للدنيا احتقرFriend, the Muslim has not scorned the world;
- صبغة الله أنر في قلبكاKindle God's hue in your heart.
- طائر من ظمأ قد جهداA bird had grown exhausted with thirst;
- طوف العقل بدنيا العللReason roamed the world of causes;
- ظهر الصديق لي في الحلمAl-Siddiq appeared to me in a dream,
- عبد الإنسان أصنام البشرMan worshipped human idols,
- عدة الموت قنوط محبطDeath's weapon is crushing despair.
- عصرنا هذا ملئ بالفتنThis age of ours is full of trials.
- عقدة تنحل من أمر الحياهA knot in the matter of life comes undone
- قال سهم مرهف يوم الزحامA keen-edged arrow said on the day of battle,
- قد سمعنا أن في عصر قديمWe have heard that, in an age long past,
- قد علا قومك عن لون ودمYour people have risen beyond color and blood,
- قصة أخرى بها أدلى إليكI relate another tale to you,
- قطع الصبح على الليل السفرDawn cut short the night's journey.
- قطعوا الأرحام بين الأخوةThey severed the ties of kinship between brothers;
- قلبنا الخفاق يأبى موطناOur beating heart refuses a homeland;
- لا تقل في الشرع معنى مضمرDo not say the sacred law has a hidden meaning.
- ليس في أعواد غابى سقطNo timber in my forest is worthless;
- ما ارتباط الجمع أنى يوصفWhat is the community's bond? How can it be described?
- مجتبى هجوير مقصود الأممThe chosen one of Hujwir, sought by the nations,
- مسلم في حومة الحرب أسرIn the thick of battle, a Muslim captured
- مشعل مصباحنا من ناركOur lamp is kindled from your fire.
- مؤمناً بالغيب غير غافلBelieving in the unseen, yet not heedless,
- نضر الله تراب الشافعيMay God make al-Shafi‘i’s dust radiant.
- نضرت منك محياها الحياهLife's countenance grew radiant through you.
- نغمات المرء عزف المرأةA man's melodies are the music a woman plays.
- نقط النور التي تدعى الذواتThe points of light that are called selves
- هيكل الأكوان من آثارهاThe structure of the worlds is among its works.
