The soul's discourse flows to souls,

And hearts grasp it without effort.

I cried it aloud, and it flew without a wing,

And its moaning cleft the breast of space.

And its substance is earthly, yet

The language of heaven flowed through its utterance.

Indeed, the tears of love overflowed from me,

As a discourse whose call was heavenly.

So it soared among the heights of the celestial spheres, until

My weeping stirred the world on high.

And how worthy he is, in my eyes, of faithfulness!

Is it my complaint or my whispered communion in this darkness?

And are the stars of my night my enviers or my sickbed visitors?

I have come to live in the past, as though

Time had severed my yesterday's path from my tomorrow.

Making the hills weep with their ever-renewed moaning.

And my tears are like dew on the moist branch.

So how long shall I be silent, as though I were a flower

Mute, not granted a singer's skill?

What is pent up must overflow.

    I have not gone beyond contentment and acceptance;

But it is a tale of sorrows.

And no worldly life for one who does not keep religion alive.

And whoever is content with life without religion

Has indeed made annihilation its companion.

And you will not build greatness while divided.

To unite you on the path of harmony?

Are a beacon for brotherhood and peace.

One God, Lord of all beings.
