- أبا المهدي لو أنصفت عبداO Abul Mahdi, if you judged a slave justly
- أقيموا على العذل أو فارجعواPersist in reproach, or else turn back.

- إلى كم ترينا صروف الزمنFor how long will time's vicissitudes show us,
- إلى من وطت هام السماكين رجلاهTo him whose feet have trodden the heads of the two Simāk stars,

- أنيخت لهم عند الطفوف ركابRiding camels were made to kneel for them at al-Tufuf;
- ترسمت بعد المستقلين أربعاI traced the dwellings after their people had departed,
- تمسكت بالتقوى لدى كل مطلبI held fast to piety in every pursuit;
- حي المنازل بالدموع الذرفGreet the dwellings with streaming tears,
- ربوع الجامعين استوقفينيO abodes of al-Jamiʿayn, bid me halt.
- سفه وقوفك بين تلك الأرسمFolly is your standing among those traces,
- سلفا كلفتني شغفاLong ago you burdened me with passion;
- شكوت لسيدي مقام أرضI complained to my master of dwelling in a land

- صبوت إلى الفيحا ونشر خزاماهاI yearned for al-Fayha and the fragrance of its lavender.

- طالعت نعشك والقرين الفرقدI beheld your bier, with Farqad as its companion.

- كأن الرزايا تجس الخلاياAs though calamities probe the cells,
- لله در نظام عبد الباقيHow splendid is the verse of Abd al-Baqi!
- لما نصبت شركا يا طبية الواديWhen you set a snare, O gazelle of the valley,
- متى يا أبا المهدي تغبق ما غبقWhen, O Abu al-Mahdi, will you serve an evening draught to one whom
- مصاب طبق السبق الشداداA calamity shrouded the seven mighty heavens
- من ناشد لي بأرض الري سكانهاWho will seek out for me the inhabitants of the land of Rayy?
- هنيئا فقد نارت لنا أنجم السعدCongratulations, for the stars of good fortune have shone for us.
- ولا يدانيك في حكم وفي حكمAnd none rivals you in judgment and wisdom,
- ومولعين بحرماني وصالهمAnd those intent on denying me union with them,
- يا جامعا بين شمل العلم والعملO you who unite knowledge and practice,
- يا دهر حتى أنت ملت عماداO Time, even you have bent a pillar,
- يا رابكا تطوي المهامه عيسهO rider whose white camels fold up the wastelands,
- يا قلبي كم تهوى ذعراO my heart, how you love torment!
- يا ناعي الباقر هيجت ليO mourner of al-Baqir, you have kindled in me
- ينهى مآثرك الكريمة من يرىYour noble deeds can be fully counted by one who believes
