Congratulations, for the stars of good fortune have shone for us.
Good tidings, for the stars of fortune have shone upon us,
Thus they revealed what the beloved conceals and what he shows.
Making clear what the beloved conceals and what he reveals.

And was a lover ever reticent about his secret?
Was there ever a loving friend who kept his secret hidden?
Yet had he not been so, he would never have tasted love.
Yet had he not loved, he'd never have tasted affection.

May a dark cloud water the abode, the abode of al-ʿAmiriyyah,
It watered the Abode, Dar Al-Aamiriyya, your condition,
thunder-voiced and lingering, bearing rain beyond all bounds.
A torrential rain whose downpour exceeds all bounds.

When it blows in from Najd - alas for Najd!

That ignited in them the embers of passion and ardour.

May God shepherd those who surrendered their passions to love
and left a heart forever dwelling in the blaze.
And left behind hearts everlasting in their fervour.

I wander about when the legions of night descend upon me,
from the night, blocking my paths with their troops.
Blocking my paths with their armies.

O Abul Haqq, it would please the eyes to be sated of sorrow,
while my eye is tearful and ever sleepless.
Yet my eyes are tearful and ever wakeful.

I ask you: tell me, what harm would it do you to visit
I asked you to tell me - what harm is there in visiting
a tormented lover, even if only as a phantom, though it brings no relief?
Meaning, even if ephemeral, though it brings no remedy?

But night pulls it back with its black tresses.

For us there is nothing left but to wish for her presence -
when she comes to me, I find myself in the garden of eternity.
When she comes to me, I'm in the gardens of eternity.

And O my friends, today we passed by a settlement
that has become the ultimate destination of lovers.
That for love's followers is the ultimate goal.

I would ransom with my life a gazelle I knew upon its heights;
I pledged my soul, a gazelle in her sanctuary,
he shot me deliberately with the two arrows of his eyes.
And she struck me with my own arrow, deliberately.

The people's faces inspired generosity and piety,
and in battle, on the day of dread, they are like lions.
And in times of calamity, they are like lions.

Their mark, in matters of piety, is upon their faces,
So their mark in times of generosity is on their faces,
and in generosity and glory, in the abundance of their gifts.
And in times of bounty and glory, from abundant provision.

The crown of my pride - may God prolong his reign.
