- ألا يا رجال العلم لا علم عندكمBehold, O men of learning: you have no learning
- البرج هذا حل فيه الهزارThis tower, in which a thousand are confined
- الله أكبر قمت فينا منذراGod is greatest! You rose among us as a warner,
- الموت دون إساءة الأخلاقDeath is preferable to the debasement of character,
- النوح لا يشفي الفؤادWailing does not heal the heart,
- إلى أين بالأبطال تسعى بهم شداWhere are you driving the heroes so forcefully?
- إليك أدير وجهي والفؤاداI turn my face and heart to you
- اليوم يحسن بي أن أسمع النغماToday it befits me to hear the melody,
- أيها الساخر الذي غره الدهرO mocker whom Time has deceived,
- ترى عدن للحر كالوخز في الجفنYou see that, for the free man, Aden is like a prick in the eyelid.
- خاف السقوط فلاذ بالتخريبHe feared downfall, so he resorted to destruction—
- ساد في ذا الزمان كل خسيسIn this age every vile man has come to rule—
- ستقرع بعد اليوم من ندم سناAfter today, you will gnash your teeth in remorse,
- سوف تسحب بالأرجلYou will be dragged by the feet
- صاحب الحكمة أودىThe master of wisdom has died.
- قوموا لوحدة مصر قومة واحدRise for Egypt’s unity—rise in earnest resolve.
- لاعج في الحشا تلظى لبعدPoet of the land, refined in speech, lofty
- لحاظك لي للعين مزورة الطرفYour glances at me, with eyes turned askance,
- لك رفق فنان وصولة ماردYou have an artist's gentleness and a giant's onslaught.
- لله درك فارسا مغواراGod bless you, valiant knight,
- مجدا لأبناء الزمان رفعتهGlory to the sons of the age, you raised it
- من مبلغ عني الإمامWho will tell the Imam on my behalf—
- مولاي لم لا تنصفوا داركمYou have enhanced your entire domain
- هانت علينا النائبات وهولهاCalamities and their terror have become trifling to us;
- هذه صورتي وأنت ذكيThis is my portrait, and you are intelligent.
- يا حماة النيل مجدكمO guardians of the Nile, your glory
- يا نجوم هذي السماء العليهO stars of this lofty sky,
