- اذا اعتاص المديح عليك فامدحIf praise becomes difficult for you, then praise

- أفي قلائص جرب كن من عملMy Friend
- اقفر من آل سعدى الكثيبHome of the Sa'd tribe is the barren dune
- أقول لركب قافلين رأيتهمI saw a caravan passing by
- أقول وليلتي تزداد طولاI Saw the Night Getting Longer
- ألا إن ليلى العامرية أصبحتBehold, my Layla al-Amiriya has come
- ألا أيها الربع المقيم بعنبب
- ألا تسأل الخيمات من بطن أرثدWhere the tents were pitched long ago

- قفا أخوي إن الدار ليستStand still, my brother, for this abode is not
- كأن القلب ليلة قبل يغديAs Though the Heart Were the Night Before Daybreak
- كأن اولى الحاجات لما بدا لهمAs If the First Needs Were When it Began for Them
- كأني سننت الحب أول عاشقAs You Have Created Love, First Lover
- كسدن من الفقر في بيتهنPoverty Has Afflicted Them in Their Homes

- وإني لاستحيي كثيرا واتقيI seek refuge in God from Satan the accursed.

- وبين الصفا والمروتين ذكرتكمBetween As-Safa and Al-Marwah I remembered you
- وعن شمائلهم انقاء اسنمة
- وقالت بالغدير غدير خمAt Ghadir Khum
- وقد أيقنت ان ستبين ليلى
- وقد عاد ماء البحر ملحا فزادنيThe Sea Water Has Turned Salty, So It Distressed Me
- وقد كان من أيامنا بسويقه
- وقد كانت الايام اذ نحن باللوىThe Days When We Were in Al-Liwa
- وقد هاجني للشوق نوح حمامة
- وقفت لها كيما تمر لعلنيI stood before her that she might pass; perchance
- وكان يقودني كلف بسعدىHe used to lead me wherever my bliss took me
- وكانت اذ تحل اراك خلصAnd she was when she saw you purely sincere
- ولا إنني ناسيك بالليل ما بكت
- ولقد علمت ولست تجهلهI Only Knew What You Already Know
- ولقد كاد مغنى دار سعدى باظلما
- ولكنني فاديت امي بعدماBut I ransomed my mother after
- ولولا ان يقال صبا نصيبAnd were it not for fear it would be said, "He is love smitten in youth,"
- وليس يزري السواد يوما بذي
- وما في الأرض أشقى من محبAnd None on Earth More Miserable Than the Lover
- ومضمر الكشح يطويه الضجيع بهWith a treasure of munificence he enriches the needy
- ومن حب سلمى راشح ليس بارحي
- ومن هويت اذا جاوزن ذا عببAs You Wish
- ونبه شوقي بعدما كنت نائماAnd Shauqi was awoken after I had been asleep
- ونحن منعنا يوم أول نساءنا
- ونزور سيدنا وسيد غيرنا
- ويوم اللوى ابكاك نوح حمامةThe Day the Dove Wept for You, Noah
